With the recent account hijackings, you need to be safe in what you download and where its found at.

Just a warning, that you should NEVER download anything from a website if it can not be found on http://www.windower.net
under Approved 3rd Party Programs

This forum is for releases of programs that have been used by the community and are considered safe.

If an application you've found online is not listed in that forum, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT

Every respected developer for FFXI who writes safe programs will post their application on our forums. Our forums is the main safe place to download applications that are morally accepted and virus free.

Downloading programs from another site or forum will lead to great risk in your account being stolen, or breaking the rules in ways that will get your account suspended or terminated.

If you know of a developer who writes an application that is safe, but has not posted it on windower.net, encourage them to post it on our forums to help players know its safe to use.

We need developers to stick together and centralize on the windower forums to keep the community safe from malware.
Remember, only get programs from windower.net!


DAT files are generally considered safe and can be trusted from other sites, just be weary of any kind of 'installers', I would avoid an installer at all cost.

3rd party apps = against SE ToS
use of 3rd party apps = unethical
3rd party apps on windower.net = morally acceptable

So ... there's a way to be morally unethical?




Note to mods: This post is only 33% trolling, I'm actually rather interested in Aikar's response. I have no beef with windower (I use it myself), but this line of reasoning seems rather flawed to me & I'd appreciate some clarification. Who knows, maybe I can sleep with a cleaner conscience if my unethical behavior is morally acceptable. o.O
