Hello I created this topic because I wanted to talk about many diffrent things that have todo with PVP. So I figured it would be easier to just have a all around chat about PVP. So I would love to listen to what everyone has to say about PvP. Hope to type with you soon.

Alright now that I have posted an opening to the topic. I wanted to ask a few things. I realy would like to get into the PVP action but whenever I do I just get pwned or slept for hours. Id like to try ballista as a ninja but I am not all to sure how that would go. So tell me what you think of this and if there are any subjobs that might be best for this place tell me.

Depending on the cap, there are a lot of things you can do as NIN.

40 and 50 cap, sub BLM or RDM, get some INT/MAB (Magic attack bonus) gear and spam the elemental wheel Ni version, people will go down quickly.

60 cap you can go /WAR for all around annoyance, /THF for evasion (not very common anymore, since sushi negates the benefits of evasion entirely), /RNG to act like a SAM/RNG with a tad more survivability (Tonko + Barrage is nasty.) But the /RNG route requires capped Marksmanship, although with gear like your AF gloves your shots will pack a punch.

Actually use your enfeebling ninjutsu as well. Hojo + Kurayami mainly, won't get jubaku off very often unless the target's distracted. But stuff like Slow really cripples even the strongest melee jobs.

As for the whole getting slept issue... it's going to happen so the best thing you can do is be prepared.
Stay poisoned by using those poison potions you've /quarry'd up probably a thousand times, and the Sleep wont work. But it's better to just try and avoid it all together. Don't go toe to toe and brawl with a fully buffed RDM, cause you will lose that fight. Pick your targets and go after what you can kill. Basically, act like a Ninja tongue.gif

That's just a rough outline from what I've gathered fighting NIN. Other full time NIN can probably get into more specific details on playstyle and gear selection and what not. Be open to suggestions but at the same time stick with the playstyle you're most comfortable with.

He said most of it, one thing you have to consider is if your server even has ballista still. Most that still do will have 60 and maybe uncap if you're lucky. Oh and since it should be obvious if you /nin, dont go for the guy in a haub, if they are like me, that makes you next for 2hr. I wear haub so I dont miss pesky thfs and nin laugh.gif

lol

Moving on: I assume you're running into abit of -ga spamming as NIN/ to remove your shadows; welcome to why being the job's generally bitchy to play in fights with jobs that can do that.

Like what was mentioned earlier, enfeebles are immensely damaging in the long run towards your enemies (ignoring blind on two-handers, as they're probably damn near accuracy cap on you anyways), and if you get the chance to, I'd highly recommend Jubaku, actually; hurts jobs that revolve around job abilities like no other (Monk and Samurai in particular, as well as Dragoon).

Another thing to keep in mind is you may want to keep around your 'kyahan for sixty and uncapped, as they'll basically work for half the match, and movement speed is pretty unique for the most part (abuse it or not, I personally believe this here's one thing that gives Ninja an edge).

Otherwise though? I've never personally liked Ninja in Ballista, as they're usually almost too easy to take down for the most part (and neither can they even kill you to begin with solo-wise), but they're one of THE most annoying jobs in sixty caps, because combat skill doesn't take true diversity until Lv.61+, which makes your evasion still worth the while (basically just run around and enfeeble everyone as much as you can before your team actually attacks, doing this at night time of course).

60 & 75 caps

I would recommend your play style revolve around team work. As mentioned, NIN has great survivability but once your shadows are down, things will most likely go downhill very quickly. I recommend being stealthy, use Tonko as much as you can. Always stay back then assist for the kill. Yeah, I know some may say it's cheap, but fuck that. Strategy and thinking smart are what keep you alive. Blind and Para jutsu are very effective. Use them. I recommend /RNG. When done right, you can let go alot of damage and from a distance as well with Slug Shot. If not, Jin is okay, but don't expect much from it.

Most importantly, try many different play styles for the job. What works for one doesn't always produce success for another.
