Well, on one hand, I agree with you, Cruz. On the other hand, not so much.
It's true that foreigners cannot vote in our elections and are unlikely to have any influence over how we vote. Frankly, I'm not sure why anyone votes the way they do. I still want to vote for Clinton and the more I delve into it, the less reason I can find why I prefer her over Obama (or Edwards or Kucinich or Santa Claus). It's all some gut reaction that makes no kind of sense. But, yeah, all those sand-eaters don't really make an impact on the election.
On the other hand, though, in spite of what every Presidential candidate tends to say, they have virtually no impact on domestic policy. We like to blame Bush. Jr., for the colossal fuck-ups of the past 8 years, but the truth is that many of them would not have happened except that Congress did it and Bush approved. Look back to Clinton and his attempts to accomplish anything domestically. He was stymied at every turn once the Republicans got control of the domestic arm of the government. What Obama or McCain or Ronald McDonald will do after they're elected President is deal with all these foreign jackasses who, incidentally, rely utterly on the financial health of the United States to survive day-to-day.
So while the Pakistanis and Iraqis and Russians may have zero impact on who gets elected (and, thus, no candidate will waste his breath pandering to them), they are still relevant in a background kind of way. In a sane world, we might actually look at the Presidency and remember that it's the foreign relations arm of our government and, thus, how the idiot in the Oval Office relates to the rest of the world matters. In spite of the huge differences between the last three Presidents (actually, in terms of foreign policy, Bush, Sr., and Clinton were both diplomatic, protective, and circumspect), though, we're all going to think that Obama-Christ will save us. Truth is, he's in a better position now as a senator to deal with the current fiscal meltdown but he doesn't have the time to really engage in that and, based on his record, he wouldn't do anything more than make a speech and let someone else do the leg work.

Anyone see the Palin-Couric debacle? This bitch is a functioning retard. Someone should have told McCain his potential running mate has difficulty forming complete sentences.
She reminded me of a middle aged version of this: Miss South Carolina
Remember her? Now watch Palin: Palin on Russia: Couric interview
But hey, they're both pageant queens, right? What can we really expect.

it will be funny to see Palin fail miserably like she did in the Couric interview.
I agree, but you know, its this line of thinking that scares me the most. People are setting the bar SO low for this woman, that if she manages to complete a sentence, she'll be declared winner. Don't let your low expectations of her affect what you should expect from a VP candidate. The bar should be set much higher than we are all setting it: we should expect of her what we'd expect of McCain, Obama AND Biden.
Also, this and this made me lol. Tina Fey really IS a "dead ringer" ... and what's funny is they could even take most of Palin's words (from the interview) verbatim, and they make a perfect SNL skit... does this scare the shit out of anyone else?

However, I really want to believe that she was just joking throughout that entire interview, as I just can’t bring myself to believe that she really thinks that. Ya know, like, maybe the whole interview was a set up... Couric was an old friend of Palin’s who invited her to come over for tea, and so she came over and they joked about random stuff and Palin had no idea that she was being filmed through hidden cameras the whole time.
Or maybe instead of hidden cameras a whole crew was there, far from hidden, but she conveniently ignored it like she can ignore so many fossils.

So Plain ole Palin knows that she can only reach the Seventh Secret Bumper Car Universe by Nazcher the Disdisceiver and reganjaIIate the world? Oh yeah, and for the nutjobs Gork and Mork need more pork, will a stork, bring a dork of an orc? My bike needs more torque does this always involve a cork? Should I poke it with my spork? It is really made out of a tuning fork. A Chocobo goes wark? The Towers in New York.
