Hello all, I’m rather new to this forum. Always been a lurker though, but tonight I decided to join up. laugh.gif

Back in the days I used to make video’s ingame. Most of them are music video’s and aren’t that special.

But I recently made a new one, after a 2 year break from making FFXI video’s. It’s again a music video made on the music of Vanessa Carlton. Though the song is overused and can be heard in thousands of youtube video’s. But I’m still pleased about the outcome of my finale version.

Tales from Vana'diel: A Thousand Miles (This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Warner Music Group.)

I would appreciate it if all those video veterans here could watch mine and give me some advice (well not only the veterans of course wink.gif ).

Hope you guys like it.

That had to be one of the most well constructed and choreographed FFXI video's I've ever seen. And I've seen quite a number of FFXI videos. lol Very well done. ^^ ★★★★★ and bookmarked.

I'll probably leave a quick youtube comment, but like with all good videos, there's never enough space.

First and foremost; once upon a time, I was unable to tolerate the song you made this video to. Mooshywooshy destroyed that, as the idea of a video by the Mooshster was just too much to pass up, even if it was to a song I didn't like. And obviously his video is a masterpiece. So, I watched your video with a lot of suspicion, not knowing it was in fact inspired by his video, and thinking to myself that nothing could ever measure up to his.

I was wrong.

This video, at so many scenes, broke my heart. I could feel my throat drying up and staring in awe of both the stylized way you created it and in the storyline that was presented to us- similar to Moosh's, yet different. The video is so tragic, yet the ending somehow makes up for it- it's still so sad, but just the look on the Galka's face when he turns and sees that she did come choked me up so badly. Though I think I felt my heart sink when I saw the empty airship.

This video is amazing. I love it. It makes me think of all of those I've met and lost in the game, one way or another. It's graphically beautiful, I love the effects you used (particularly the glow on the 'memory' shots). You're really, REALLY talented. I don't really know what to say other than that. Not much evokes this much emotion in me, but this did- and I've already bloody well seen Moosh's! Thank you for sharing. Favorited.

Now I just have to resist turning MooshyWooshy's idea into the next meme... For I feel a severe urge to do the same regarding some of my old friends who've gotten lost T_T

That's a fantastic video, really.

I've not seen Mooshys version (though I'll give it a watch now) but that really was so very well made. Stunning.
The editing was top notch and it linked so perfectly with the song, and a very heart-warming story it was~

Great job ^^ I'd love to see anything else you create.

Wauw Tsunanko, just wauw. Your message means a lot to me, thank you so much.

I never knew my video would give people so much emotions. Of course when you make it you hope that it will call out emotions or else you don't make it that way. But still, wauw Tsunanko, again thank you much. smile.gif

And of course thank you Apollz for your wonderful comment.

Great to see a big movie veterans like you guys like my work.

Very good job ^^ loved it. It actually reminded me of that FFXI story about the Tarutaru White Mage? Anyway, editing's top notch, and you're far better at putting AV/MV footage into the game than I am hehe.

I love the titling in the start and end credits. I need to learn how to make it small and simple and effective like that.

I'm curious as to how you did the intro with the camera scrolling down the bell tower. Was that part of an in-game cutscene or was it somehow done with EWH viewer?

The ending was the nicest touch of all. I think that's when I really connected with your characters and therefore had to go back and watch it a 2nd time tongue.gif

Now as far as advice, since you asked, hmmm...I think the only thing I'd say is the 'walking down the street' scene in the beginning seemed to go a little long for 20 seconds. I didn't really pull me in. That said, the rest of the vid made up for that quite nicely ^^

Keep up the good work!

Very very good video. When I first read the title to the video, I didn't think it would be the song, Thousand Miles.. personally, that song is just so played out to me...but after I saw how it was used in this AMV, I must admit, it was worth another hear.

I give it 10/10 on every aspect you can grade a video on, though yea I do agree with Kian, the walking down Jeuno part was a tad dragged out, but such a minor failing...

Throughout the entire video, both the girl and the galka both thought of a Hume male too, and i was wondering where he was in the video till the very very end when they visited his tombstone...Very sad but in a way moving. Great video

Normally I don't like to talk about how I make movies. Because you lose the charm and magic if you know the process. Though don't see any harm in telling it. Yeah it was EWH, and I filtered it heavily in after effects because the resolution was really low of the source video, and the sky was so ugly. Though maybe to much effects but I like the outcome.

Yeah to be honest, I thought the same. Though it was never my intention to make it this long, I think it just kind of slipped in. Don't know if I should tell you this, but originally I had a idea for that walk scene. The lyrics are like this.

“Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces passed
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making my way
Through the crowd”

As you can see, no crowd to be seen. There are like a couple of NPC’s in that shot. I wanted to add a couple of people in that scene through AltanaViewer. Maybe some people from my LS or Mooshy’s Characters as tribute. Though I did a very quick test to see if it would work. But my PC wasn't working well at that moment and for some odd reason I never finished it.

But yeah it is a little long, maybe to long. Should have used different shots.

If I were you, I'd enter that video with anyone and everyone else that would send in a video for fanfest (Yes, I know, there is no contest this year but I doubt those that love making videos will let that stop them). If anything, we could have a laptop playing all the great music videos these past 4 years, yours included. It's an idea, if you like it cool. If not, we'll show off your video anyway, since it's just that good. biggrin.gif

YouTube are really starting to take the piss with their crusade against copyrighted material -.-

Try lodging a dispute on the grounds of it being fan made, non-profit and all credits given to respected owners.

Better question: Who here has had their videos removed due to that? I'm just curious.

I had a few of mine removed, but after a dispute they were put back up. I guess because I only use very short segments of music.

However, my partner had a video using a Nickelback song which was removed once, which we disputed, and then removed again under order of the record label ¬¬
A shame really, as it had been up for a number of years and had well over 60k hits.

So yeah. Youtube is getting very anal about it and it's rather pathetic. People are hardly trying to claim ownership of the music use.

Yeah... I knew how you feel >.>
But work continues! I never give up D:

Good luck on getting your video back. It's such a good piece of work that it'd be a real shame if it's taken down for good =/
And good luck with your future work~
