Recently I decided to finish up merits and redo some of them. But I can't decide if I should redo my WAR merits or not? Since I have a Ridill now. Currently I have 3 berserk, 3 aggressor and 4 double attack. But I was thinking of changing it to 5 berserk and 5 aggressor. I was wondering if any Ridill WARs could gimme some advice on this matter. Oh and I barely use G.AXE.

I have 5/5 Bergressor and a Ridill, I can't really compare as i've never put merits in double attack tbh. >.> and I don't really parse myself.

Each DA merit is 1% greater chance you'll not get a 3rd hit on ridill. Remember that multi-hit weapons and DA/TA work against eachother. Stick to 5/5 bergressor and call it a day. Personally I haven't touched DW ever since I got Perdu, and I use 3/3/4.

since they'res already a topic on it, i too was thinking of getting 3/3 4 DA like the OP, but since im going to be strictly gaxe, do you think i can give jusice to 5 berserk and 5 DA? or would i have to have 8 gaxe merits in order to pull it off in camps like Jade.

Personally I like keeping Berserk/Aggresser on the same timer. I was thinking of going 3/3 Berserk/Aggressor and 4 on DA myself.

um.. Axe/Ridill is not full of Triple attacks.. you still have your Axe, and the single/double attacks from Ridill. and they are getting improved with double attack+, also your Axe. so you can go Brutal earring, and 5/5 DA even, and you will still get an improve. guessing Triple attack has like 30% proc.. or even alittle less... you have maybe 1% less triple attacks from Ridill.. but your single hits will have more double attacks.. like comparing 1 single attack and 1 triple attack to 2 double attacks. in additional your Axe hits wil be more too. also during WS more chance for DA.
in fact you will parser more WITH double attack, than without. even if its just an slightly more.
i personally stuck with 4/5 DA, 3/3 berserk/aggressor

I think they said that Ridill is 33.33/33.33/33.33 distribution (1/2/3 hits) with no double or triple attack (so it attacks twice on average). People get confused when they talk about double attack hurting Ridill's damage.

Lets do the math:
33.33*1 + 33.33*2 + 33.33*3 = 200 attacks

Now if we add 20% Double Attack in, so 20% of the hits with Ridill are forced to be 2 hits instead of possibly 1 or 3. Now the distribution is 26.66/46.66/26.66
This works out to:
26.66*1 + 46.66*2 + 26.66*3 = 200 attacks

So Double Attack and Double Attack merits don't hurt Ridill, they just don't help it. DA still helps your main hand though, and is good during WS. I doubt it'd hurt a pimped out Ridill WAR/NIN that much to be 5 Berserk/5 DA. It'd hurt them more to have to go 8 GA. Still, 8 GA, 4 Axe, 8 Sword, 5 Berserk/DA would probably be fine for people who like to WAR/NIN tank with Man/Ridill or whatever.

Before i got Bravura, my Ridill cat1 merit setup was 5zerk 5agg, imo for dual wield wars this is best for cat1 merits. I feel that the ammount of time that zerk/agg are up effecting your attacks is far better than any DA for dual wield.
However I am currently 5zerk 5DA because of Bravura, i feel this is the best suited for hardcore Gaxe wars.
I have used dual wield with 5zerk/5DA recently because i wanted to bust out the ridill for grins. although the conditions were not really good test conditions, i felt that the agg merits seemed to give me a better output while dual wielding.
