Recently started over again in Odin server...with new xbox 360..new account the works.
Used to play PC - had never levelled a craft.
Been trying to find what one to start now...And I havent a clue which to pick...
So heres a few questions...
Whats the best craft to chose for a melee job...Such as PLD, DRK, DRG..?
And from those crafts...What one makes an Ok return/or will be useful in making Equipment from the above jobs...?
Note. I was going to do fishing to 100... And cooking to 60...But will that benefit me in anyway...?
And when you level a craft over 60...no other craft can pass 60...?
I know its a lot... But i need all the help I can get, cheers guys.

A friend of mine in-game smiths a lot of his own gear, including a lot of +1 stuff. It's really handy, especially when he's levelling a low-level job and needs all the def and bonuses he can get. Smithing is a tough craft (they all are) but it could pay off. Smithing's probably the best for the heavy jobs (like the ones you mentioned). He's a DRK, works out great for him.
Actually, you can take fishing to 100 and cooking to 100. Fishing is the only craft that doesn't take out of that skill pool. So anything can be 100 with Fishing at 100 also. Cooking and Fishing isn't a bad idea at all. You'd probably save tons on making your own food. I can't say anything about the HQs and profit, but all crafts have a breaking point somewhere.

fishing is a separate craft, as mentioned above. i believe the way crafts work are that after your craft is 60, there are 40 points allotted for whatever craft you want to keep leveling. so you could have two at 80, or whatever. not sure, though.
i leveled cooking, and i'm glad i chose it over other crafts. it's fairly cheap to level, and i like that you can make gil without risking any big losses (the items that use somewhat expensive ingredients, i just don't synth). consequence of that is you need to do a lot of synths to make the same profit, but i like the stability more.
as far as cooking and fishing goes, i have cooking leveled, working on my fishing. the cooking helps with bait, but you don't need high level cooking to do that. i don't know about other servers, but in my experience the fishing and cooking don't really matter to each other, since sushi nq is slight loss to negligible profit. i'd rather just sell the fish.

Any craft is capable of making very steady and substantial income if its handled properly. Just make your decision on whichever you enjoy the most or whichever would be the most useful to you.
