Anyone else been getting constantly dumped on lately when it comes to support? I cant even seem to get protect and shell to be kept up on me full time, let alone, phalanx, refresh/ballad, haste/march. Anyone else finding it really difficult to pull off NIN/DRK because of lack of support from shellmates?

haha, on a Cerb, there was a PLD/NIN, and myself as NIN/DRK. I'd hold hate about 80% of the time over this PLD. GoH seemed to somehow go off, I still have hate, and who gets cure-bombed first? paralyna'd first? erased first? The PLD. I ended up dying from Burn just because of terrible support.

Rest assured, it hasn't happened again because of the proof of lack in support

Just bitch at your mages until you get haste/refresh and march/ballad, that's what I do and it gives the desired results.

when i went to garuda, you wouldnt believe how outdated that server used to be. from hades, there was never 1 day, when i saw rotating AA rotation on pld tanks. i did research and people used to do that in 2004-2005, but on Garuda, they were doing it in late 2007. before me, nobody there used barfire gear and there was 0 ninjas. that right there was all i needed for the 1st impression i got for the tanking in that server. i knew right away, they wouldnt know that a ninja like me would need refresh/etc. so i just dealt with it. i carried stacks of echo drops and sometimes ethers (thanks to my friend who never threw them away when he was crafting) and it eventually sunk into their brains that "hey, this guy is spamming ethers, i thought neenjer voked. perhaps i should refresh him" kind of thing. but dont get me wrong, i would express my lack of basic support on vetrillo too lol. sometimes i wasnt so nice to her, but she got the point! than i was nice after and gave her a lapdance in my 'sinder subligar' etc etc

thats just the way it is sometimes. i think what made me a better tank was the fact that i could deal with people like that. my co-tanks used to rely heavily on stuns/flashes/etc, but not me. if i saw one of those when i was casting ichi or whatever, i would have my jaws dropped in amazement. not like any of us need it anyway, but in the end it does sometimes make it easier..... which leads to boredom <_>. but even with only 60-110 mp, youll never run into issues on running out as long as your support is awake. i got to get away with spamming dispel over and over on /rdm sometimes if i was lazy. and no matter how hard i try i couldnt run out of mp thanks to ghorn, but im sure normal ballads would be great too.

just hang in there and tough it out. support discrimination will never break us! i had the same exact problem that cyprias had too. i was P I S S E D. but i actually didnt come close to dying, i just hated the thought process. i understand that i took a 300 dmg GoH in my magic def gear and the pld took like 700. so you can cure him than. but why not /as the mob and cure me afterwords too? i would have to say stuff like "hey... i have 600/1600 hp because this burn has been on me for 3 min and you have full mp. wake up" i wasnt too mean, but i was certainly blunt about it.

edit: but in the end, i couldnt ask for better support. they knew how ninjas were and what they needed. a lot of people ended up preferring nin, since it gave rdm and whms something to do, and it gave the DD's a chance to start using their TP earlier and sub /war or /sam instead of THF to things. holding hate against blms is easy, but holding hate against wars who pop 2k metatron torments and steel cyclones on Tiamats back to back can really test your skill. but i did it, and i can make a typo from the word "the" so you all are more than capable! im glad to see familiar faces stepping it up!

Yeah I agree support sometimes just isn't there for us ninjas. I remember one Cerb in particular where co tank PLD died from GoH and somehow the mages decided to raise him before getting my HP back to normal when I was the only tank alive.
After that happen I saw the leader spam the LS "cure Sinder keep his HP capped" quite a few times. Only after that they finally got the point.

i told rich this in a PM or AIM chat. one of the last Omega I did, we were lowmanning (7-8 ppl) and i was cotanking with a pld. i let the pld have his lollies for a min or two, and he was amazed at how much omega was missing him (i smacked him with a 300tp Kamu). As soon as that wore off, i had hate within 30 secs, and didnt lose it until the rdm let me go 2-3 mins without refresh. the run leader sent me a /tell telling me to stop going afk. to which i told him i'd cast when i had the MP. we ended up timing out, b/c with "the ninja having more hate, we (the 3 blms) were affraid to nuke hard"

its so sad that people have gotten lazy b/c of pld/nin tanking, both on the tank side, for leaders only wanting plds cuz they r uberz now, to support not wanting to refresh/ballad etc like they should be

without reading anything but that 2nd guys post, you never need to use absorb. Was looking "you will use earth staff most the time" comment, this is a no as well. Just judge what you tank, if it hits too fast where u know your going to take hits use a Taco. If it's like Omega or any sky god but byakko, use Dorado sushi and get hate from melee'ing with katana's.

Stun/Sleep/Hojo/Blind/Bind = order should never need to cast anything else unless..... it hits very fast or slow or elegy wear off and u just casted Ichi. Then I would use psn ONLY because it casts so fast, it's not very usefull otherwise. Only thing I am not sure is, how much dmg spells help, never been a fan of them on HNM, not sure how much emnity they generate. but a good place to look how to gear your nin is..... http://belkinator.li...l.com/2224.html - I like this guy's setup and merits minues the MP merits. I would get 8 HP or posssibly 6 HP 2 MP if you are elvaan/galka.
