Hey all,

So I've come back to FFXI after 4 years and things seemed to have changed quite a bit. I never leveled a warrior way back when but I understood that you would need thf and nin for subjobs as you were on your way up. Is this still the same?

Should I be using gaxe from 1 > 75 or is there a point at which DW is more viable?

Dual Wield is probably better in situations when you're forced to eat Sushi regardless of your weapon choice, but it's not going to matter that much if you just use GA anyway.

Subs you need for xping to 75 and meritting are NIN and SAM. NIN is probably what you should sub from the point where WAR stops being a viable tank for xp (~40) to 70. SAM is what you should sub from 70 to 75. Never level with an underlevelled sub, etc. For things before level 40, you can sub pretty much whatever you want. I went WAR/DRG with Wyvern Earring/Mantle when there was 1 Dex = 1 Acc, and it was broken as hell. There were times in Altepa where I had the monster at 50% before the rest of my party engaged.
This discussion on subs assumes that you're going to have awesome gear, which probably won't be the case if you're getting your first 75. If your gear isn't "all that," you can probably get away with /SAM from 50 to 75 and WSing to kill things. Just don't pull hate!

THF is useful for HNM fights where you'll be wanting to plant hate on the tanks. DNC is an awesome sub for soloing (especially post 70.)

PS. Always eat food!
