I was a lowbie when CoP came out, but I came back and now I'm finally high enough level to do some exploring in the expansion areas. I think I remember there being some ores that were in huge demand back when CoP was all the rage...has the armor made from most CoP ores gone down in demand, or could I make a decent profit mining in those zones?

on my server at least, mining is not the big score money maker that it use to be. unless your going after kroma

the money in mining comes from being able to break down what you dig up, and in the case of movatopolis that includes moblin gear. the big money maker in movatopolis use to be aluminum ore. how ever the big tag on that has come down since they added it to various bc's and the chocobo hot and cold game

acording to ffxi ah aluminum is going for around 3k on your server.

how ever with about 20 levels into smithing and goldsmithing. you can make decent cash in most areas that you can mine in making iron and silver ingots, mind you i said decent not great.

If you're KI profile is correct and you are level 30, you should be cautious in Moval. Mobs range from 31-47 so it may be best if you reach level 35-40 otherwise you'll probably agro everything.

Mining used to be GREAT for beginning cash flow. It might still be, I'm unsure. However, if you want to unlock the true potential of mining, head out there with a shit load of fire crystals and level up smithing. Doing so will open up better synth recipes, and when you get up there, you'll be able to desynth goblin parts for ingots, which is a great turn for profit.
