I know a few SMN can take this thing out cake, but I'm wondering how many BST would it take to eventually whittle down all 10? (The least number possible) Thanks.

Summoners can take down the Dobsonflies because Astral Flow is AOE. Beastmasters don't have that benefit and, as such, probably the best you could hope to do is pour as much DPS as possible into a single fly before everyone is killed by the Cursed Sphere spam, Reraise, rinse, and repeat.

But yeah Path is right. What gives SMN the possibility to pwnz this NM isn't having a pet, it's having big AoE damage capacity.

Well, I know SMN can do it, as I stated. However the reason I bring up BST is because I read on the wiki that "Also possible with 3+ Beastmasters using 2 hour Hawker pets". http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Carmine_Dobsonfly

They mention having a Black or White Mage for support. Black Mage seems more sensible for the sake of Sleepga. Without something like Sleepga, I suspect you would get overwhelmed very quickly. That's just a guess, though.

Honestly, I think your best bet is to just advertise yourself as a puller, and convince a few Summoners to come along with you.

i have alot of experience with this nm on bst, if you have 10 bst solo each one i think it could be done, when it popped i took a familar'd fly and pulled one off other pt and solo'd it w/ ease. now 10 bst's.. that could be fun,

personally i found the best way to fight this nm is with low numbers for less lotting lol. of course smn is the way to go.. but sometimes it's not an option my last kill consisted of 2 blm 1 whm and 2 sam/nin's.

what we did was meditate wait for timer.. one sam pulls : Blm 1 elemental seal sleepga, skill chain Tachi: Enpi > Tachi: enpi = distortion MB Water 2 meditate repeat blm 2 sleepga and exit.

Very fast, and easy i hope this adds some insight to your battle plan, if you're lookin to do it with beast because of the thrill then good luck im sure it will be fun otherwise this strategy has given me and my ls mates over 10 sallets ^^

I've never seen this type of tactic before so it just goes to show that anything is possible if you are able to think outside the box.

Done these many many times with Monstersinc members. The IT Hawkers make the individual flies seem like a joke. I've used one to hold all 10 while waiting for our summoners. I'm sure that with a few Hawkers, it wouldn't be too hard. Not sure on an exact amount though.
