Tomoe, Engutsuto are better choices and Gondo is probably equal to. This polearm is a waste of time.

I don't see why Tomoe is just assumed to be a clear cut winner. There is a reason Destroyers beat out Wagh Baghnaks after all (6% crit vs 5acc 14atk).

Also weren't you one of those who said a Crit setup wouldn't work for 2-handed weapons?

And equips with +crit are different from adding dex for crit rate.

But wouldn't they need to pile on +crit gear for it to be efficient as well? I was under the impression that Destroyers was awesome for MNKs because the 6% crit rate carried over to both punches. Wouldn't it be better for a job like SAM who uses Weaponskills as their main source of damage to use something with higher DMG instead? With meditate and Store TP and such, wouldn't a 5-hit setup with something like the Tomoe work better?
PS: Apologies if I'm asking a lot of questions in the wrong forum section but figured I might as well just ask them here since it's kind of on topic. Planning to take SAM up to 75 at some point anyway.

The only difference between Tomoe and Gondo is 1 base damage and 5acc/atk, you can still manage a 5 hit the same with either weapon. You'll lose a slight bit on your WS average from the ACC/ATK and 1 DMG, but the 6% crits for melee should more than make up for it, though I can't be sure. Shouldn't be too hard to get some friends to go do the KSNM as apparently it has a 100% drop rate on Orichalcum Ingot iirc, 200k assured + other stuff, so as soon as I get my SAM up towards 75 I'll have to parse between the two.
