Anyone who says crafts are crap are either lazy or just don't want anyone else cutting into their profit.
A better question is do you LIKE woodworking? Do you enjoy making the stuff you make now and the stuff you will be making? If you do, then finish it. If not, pick another craft.
Crafting 100+x is still and will always be the best way to make gil in this game. You just gotta be smart about it.
