I was just wondering what people think the merit order should be for war. I have decent gear for 75, just need a swift belt.

I'm planning on going 8/8 GAXE first, but I don't know what order would be best for actual war merits.

unlock Warrior charge, 4DA > 3/3 Bergressor > cap Warrior charge.

Concerning the merits, same as the other guys, though I did 2/2 Bergressor, 1/5 Warcry (I balanced it like this way back when and never looked back), & 5/5 DA. I'm considering changing it to 3/3 Bergressor 4/5 DA, however I'm quite lazy and don't merit often.

Well I did 3 3 4 then Great Axe 8/8 then Warrior's Charge 5/5 I am working on now, in all honesty I would have done 5 Double Attack 5 Berserk if I went back.

What about G2s? I originally figured I'd go 5 Savagry, 4 WC, 1 Toma...but then I thought "why Savagry? Warcry would still suck" so I'm left wondering what to do. Stick to the original plan? 5 Charge, 5 Tomahawk? Spend something on lolAggressive Aim since I xbow things a lot?

War G2s are kinda sucky the more I think about em =(

Savagrey isn't that bad, I'd rather put merits in that than aggressive aim, maybe Tomahawk, but I'm hardly on WAR so not gonna put any merits in that til I'm nearly done with my other jobs.

Aggressive Aim doesn't seem like it'd be such a bad merit really if you solo or campaign a lot on your WAR, Acid & Bloody bolts are awesome. But, if your WAR's for HNMs/merits or you have a job more suited to soloing/campaign levelled, then you should probably just put merits in Savagery. You'll prolly never notice the bonus you get but something's better than nothing.

Tomahawk does have a use if you do Limbus and/or sea. It's on my list for that reason alone.

There is a thread here on Allah showing that 5 Berserk and 5 DA is the best to have for Gaxe builds.

Well, the second post in that thread is really only applicable to merit mobs where you're near capped Acc anyway. What if you're meleeing Byakko or something without Madrigals you've got a 50% Hit rate instead of 85% without Aggressor up. Suddenly Acc+25 is Hit rate +12.5%, or a 25% increase in your DoT. (meaning 25% instead of the 10% he offers up)

Personally, I've got 75 BLM and RDM so I meritted 5/5 Berserk and 5/5 DA because there's a 0% chance I'll ever come WAR to an HNM fight unless I go out and get Bravura, in which case Acc wouldn't be much of an issue for me anyway.

if you had all jobs at 75 would you merit tomahawk ? or would you just go drg and use angon instead to leave room for something else?

Tomahawk is good for JoT and Einherjar if you get slimes with a melee heavy setup...

5 Savagery (4, if you do 1 Tomahawk)

8 Axe 4 Sword or vice versa if you're cool and posess Ridill's.
