What is the last word on who will parse better? (Assuming good gear, buffs, etc.)

I can't stand the Fortitude Axe.
BTW, Bane, did you change servers, or are you taking a break or something? Haven't seen you around in months.

K, I'll be a little more specific. Perdu Voulge. 4-5 DA merits, get a Pole Grip, Brutal Earring, and you'll be double attacking a good bit of the time.

On birds, I'd imagine Fortitude could beat Perdu. I have never parsed any parties, so I can't give you quantified information, but just the amount of tp, similar per-hit damage and also similar weapon skill damage adds up quite a bit. Might as well be using a spear though for birds.
Mamools... Perdu.
The double attack argument doesn't really work for Fortitude vs. Perdu, because double attack stacks with the weapon effect itself. You'll be double or triple attacking almost the entire time (well over 50% on average) with Fort.

I wasn't using double attack as an argument or as the conclusive reason lol. My original post was short, to the point, and a bit assholeish, so I lengthened it with something random to fill up space.

Thanks, I'm just seeing what kind of things to look forward to.

Personally, I enjoy using a Rune Chopper every once and a while, though I wouldn't have any parse results to prove anything one way or the other.

One more question, will SAM really outdamage WAR in merit?

I don't know what the norm is or what the definitive answer to this is (if there is even one), but in the vast majority of the merit parties I've been a part of, I tend to out-ws SAMs often, on top of hitting for more dmg on regular melee hits and double attacking a lot.
That may just be my personal experience and not what everyone sees, but that's my take on it.

Most pickup groups have players who are either not fully merited or idiots. Most Samurai these days are both, but so are most every other job. If you're competent and you're parsing against an idiot, you'll probably come out on top. Who cares, though? You're there to get merits, not parse.

Speaks the truth, though I'd be the first to admit that I compare myself to EVERY DD I play alongside, with the sole purpose of improving myself. That's what it's all about, after all.

Parsed Fortitude a lot and it doesn't even stack up against Byakko's never mind Perdu (/Nin Fort is a bit closer but still doesn't win any parses.) The only reason to not use Perdu is if you are using an active Rune Chopper or you have a Relic/Mythic GAX. Fort is best in one event and that's campaign when subbing /Dnc.
As for the question about War vs Sam it depends on gear and merits they are very close. The difference between the 2 is small enough that WSing at 100%, using timers to their full potential, and engaging the mob quickly can make the difference. Damage potential I think overall if the rumors about Conqueror are true I`d guess War would come out ahead but it`s really hard to say. Sam vs War should boil down to which one you like better for merits because they`re both the top DDs in merits (Drgs have really gotten a huge boost on birds with their new WS so they`re up there too.)

If you're assuming that the war and the sam have the best possible gear, excluding relics, and fully merited, I think a war will edge out sam.

in a merit situation, samurai will likely come out ahead (assuming generally equal gear/skill), because we ooze tp. we dont need to hit shit to get it. it is given to us by bacon or whatever deity you choose to believe in. bard goes afk, rdm says he has to pee. warriors are stuck there doing nothing. samurai gets tp. fights resume, samurai rapes face, gets tp, rapes face again all before the warrior gets tp once. the mobs simply arent alive long enough for a war to WS more than once every 2-3 fights.
now, were you to parse a longer fight with no interruptions, im sure it would be very very close, with the warrior more likely to come out ahead.
