Merit Question

I've been reading these forums for years to model my war after good suggestions but I have some questions about merit point setups that I wanted some direct opinions about. I have been running 8/8 gaxe with 3/3 bergressor and 4DA, but just got a ridill the other night. The problem that i'm having is deciding what i should do with my merits to get the most mileage from gaxe and dual wield. Obviously war/sam gaxe is going to beat ridill these days, which is what I am merited for currently, but I find on my server alot of merit pt's have me change to /nin regardless. My ls has me sub nin for a good amount of events I get to use war on and for others just go as a different job altogether. So the majority of my war play time ends up being sub nin still with the exception of a few well informed player merit pt's.

So what I was hoping you guys could help me with is what would be the merit setup to get the most mileage out of both man/ridill and perdu? I just don't know if going 5/5BA to support dual wield would hurt my gaxe setup too much. Obviously faster timers would help both setups but again i keep juggling both sides of the situation and can't decide.

The second question is about both setups potential with nin being my most common sub. I don't have access to a parser so I don't want to make assumptions based on eye balling it. So will man/ridill beat out gaxe when having to sub nin or at this point is it pretty much gaxe 100% of the time unless i'm wanting to play around?

I know I could have probably tried to find similar answers in other posts but I couldn't find anything that made me feel completely satisfied about one side or the other. Any suggestions/thoughts are appreciated, Thanks cool.gif

welcome to my exact problem.

My ls low mans everything thus war/sam is not an option. They're not going to delegate a healer just for my crazy ass.

I have 8/8 sword for pld (back when I got to use it more often)and then got a ridill.

I have perdu, and all the correct builds for DW and Gaxe war. Yes Gaxe /sam is about as kick ass as it gets. But it comes down to what your ls wants.

Me. I enjoy ridill'ing it up. I do very nice damage and sub tank. Or even main tank in limbus and other things in that regard. Since we have 2 aegis plds now I'm not on pld that much anymore and usually on war or drk for zergs.

W/e benefits your ls the most with your strats. Imo

also i'm 4da, 3serk/agg as well and capped war charge/tomahawk.

I'm always begging to sub sam :-D

Well i'm glad to hear i'm not alone in my dillema at least. So far I havn't had much of a problem with accuracy in my tp set with 7sword 5axe merits but when bergressor is down I find myself staring at timers thinking the 20 extra seconds off would be awfully nice. I think I could be alright going either way with 3/3/4BADA or 5/5BA but I think it would end up being dependant on which will perform best when subbed nin. If anyone could give me an idea of a parse difference between man/ridill and perdu when subbed nin on average merit lvl mobs it would be greatly appreciated. This would cover the majority of stuff I would be war on I believe such as merits, campaign, limbus, dyn, etc. Ty for the initial response dart, please feel free to keep suggestions/experience coming.

I don't own a Ridill personally, but if you're looking for a good balance I would suggest doing 4 Berserk, 4 Aggressor, and 2 Double Attack upgrades if you're leaning toward heavier Ridill use. If you're leaning more toward Great Axe, I'd go with the standard 3 Berserk/Aggressor 4 Double Attack route. Also, if you're willing to dedicate all of your combat skill upgrades to your WAR, I'd suggest keeping your 8 Great Axe upgrades, and doing 8 Sword as well for your Ridill, and putting the last 4 into your Axe.

I'd still like to own a Ridill as it's the only thing my WAR is really missing from being optimal sans relic/mythic but with the way things are these days it's easier to close the gap between having one and not having one with good gear choices and merits.

Sorry for the late response, I don't drop by here too much anymore. >_________>
