Excal has a 10% chance of doing 25% of the users current HP in the form of slashing dmg... So every 10 hits you will do an additional 400dmg out of nowhere, and it really adds up over time.

Assuming you're at full HP when it goes off.
And of course, it's hateless so it does nothing for helping you actually tank.

About the only + side is the high damage on it makes it so you hit harder than 0 on high defense targets. But a Company sword can do that, or even an Organics (but -HP = bad). Excal = best DD sword? Yes. No one questions that. Is the price worth the improvement in performance? God no, but some people have too much gil...

The arguement for the horn is that it makes BRD songs much better, which isn't so much as an improvement for 1 person but an improvement for 5 others. You get into a Gjallarhorn party and you notice the difference.
As for justifying the cost, well the cost is only justifyable to LS management that's aiming at sponsoring a relic, in which case you're going to want to get the most bang for your buck. And as stated above, BRD relic pimps out 5 people instead of just 1.

As for you sax, your little shot isn't even worth dignifying. At least not here

Gjallarhorn only really affects one song (no one casts Dirge or Sirvente, do they?), I suppose two if you think that a fraction of a percentage point of Haste makes a functional difference. It doesn't really "pimp out" five other people unless they all need MP and manage it poorly.

From what I have read, Gjallarhorn doesn't even affect Dirge or Sirvente (I believe I heard this from BG on enmity testing) for what it's worth, yet it's "All Songs"+2.

And yeah, to me, Gjallarhorn is Ballad +2 only. My BRD gets the most use in Salvage than anything, so yay for Storm Fife, at 100% less cost; I'd rather use that than spend a ton of gil on a minor improvement in Salvage. No one is going to hit the max tier on March without meriting Singing/Wind 8/8, even with the horn. They'd likely max every other song though. Minuet caps easy, and I believe Madrigal requires some more skill in comparison, but March definitely requires the most.
