I have been planning to solo this for quite some time, but there is a serious lack of information out there other than people say you need W legs or you cannot win. I seem to think otherwise. After a grueling 5 hr fight with Ix'DRK and callin in teh troops from LS to help me kill it before im old and senile, they decided to do a Fort or 2. I do have W legs, but on the 2nd fight, i got very bored and felt like straight tanking as RDM/NIN taru, i figured out that Slow2 is money on this guy, i was landing it with Full MND unresisted, and it was just owning him. With full Damage down and phalanx, i could eat 2 0dmg melee strikes if shadows were down. I didnt have my haste stuff on my taru, and was still able to stay alive fairly well. I do thing with some nice haste on utsusemi and a pretty good slow2 this guy can be rocked by the ceremonial dagger strat. Seraa this sounds like your arena, I dont know if you ever tried it. The Vorpal Blade got off once because LS mates were Tping it, and it didnt even break stoneskin with 2 shadows up. The main threat in vorp is messing up your shadow recast. I think with Afv2 Body, and if i transferred my dusk hands/feet off my main char, i could stand a chance straight tank on Fort which in reality seems way more fun and possibly safer than kiting.
on a side note, i recently finished making my RDM just about as good as i can get it off of AH items, and will try Sieryu very soon also.....

You're misunderstanding the nature of the solo; you're assuming it's a standing solo, it is not.
While I will not comment on the standing solo possibility of a JoFortitude, as I do not have the experience necessary, I will outline why people are telling you you need cuisses.
Essentially, you zone fortitude repeatedly (either using the zone or porters, porters are faster but zone is safer) in order to lose the kf'ghrah. Then you take him back to a circular room (specifically, the ones near the pop points) and kite him around the circle. Apply bio 2 and poison 2, utsuing every 3 spells (as he will still reflect).
The reason that Cuisses are needed is that though he briefly stops upon being casted at, this is shorter than the casttime and does not account for the requirement to cast utsusemi. Cuisses are needed to stay ahead, that given, as to my knowledge there are no effective means to slow him down via usage of pathing.
Hence people telling you it is impossible without cuisses.
I wish you luck if you try an enspell kill, though! Post the results.

JoF is a joke , can straight tank if you like as long as you seperate his pets first. Just pop , run through the palace like crazy , don't bother zoning that's just a waste of time , never stop running until they're seperated. There's no real reason to go back into a circular room either , I just do it since my TH4 waits there and start nuking on the way back.
