The server isn't called Mana, the person who operates it is called Mana. It's Mana's pXI script test server. It's essentially for testing scripts and such for the people who are working on the project.

My guess is you'll see something very livable 2010. Of course that'd be a lot sooner with more people to contribute.

been seeing something about this when people decided to make a wow Privet server.
Yes its buggy as heck, sometimes the npcs that you see ussually talk end up attacking you. lolgmbug.

for the record Ffxi> wow.

The way I see it from messing around with a private/offline servers, theres alot of data thats needed
to run the system itself including archving.

World of warcraft offline is about more or less 5-10gig compressed/uncompressed. it takes at least three
programs to run it

<Authentication server>
<the core game it self>
<script, data, and Item>

I could go on in detail how it works, but it would take up too much space and time to say.
I do find it intresting to see a small ffxi offline just to test your ideas and Theroys of what will work on your toons
and what would be best. Such as finding hidden affects of new food items, or new armor and how far stats can go before
cap. without wasting so much of your hard earned gill.

However, since ffxi is more of a A++ or lynx like programing. it wouldnt be to hard to duplicate the code <if anyone has the guts
to get into the server and still have enough time to DownLoad The Entire Data bank(s) that are in the server. Without
Getting caught.
FFXI's system is much bigger than word of warcraft hands down, regardless how much you would think there is.
You'd be talking about something that would probbaly take a nice chunk out of a 800gig harddrive. the smallest part
of ffxi is on the client side. which only leaves you with a small clue on how it works.

Sorry for the wall of text, just have abit too much info in me. Even more when youre BORED and Dont have enough sleep.

I made my own private server last night... great program.
I hope they get it up running soon so that I can make my own server for friends and modify it.

There is no such thing as offline FFXI and will never be. The fact is that you NEED to go through POL to get to the servers.

Nah there is a POL Bypass tool, dig deep enough and you'll find it on PXIs forum its not suppose to be talked about but a few pms will do the trick.
