So, I just dinged NIN30 recently, and I wanted to get everything together for it so I could run straight through to NIN40. I've been camping Mee Deggi and Quu Domi for the past couple days, and some of the people I've talked to while I was there said that I shouldn't get O. Kote for NIN because of the Eva-5 on them. From what I've read, though, I've heard the O. Kote are pretty much a required piece. My question is which of these is true? Should I keep camping O. Kote, or am I just wasting my time?

Get the Kote, but don't lose your mind trying.

Edit: To expand further - NIN's best source of hate generation in an XP party is damage. O. Kote add a very sizable bump to your damage, especially when you first get them. After the elemental wheel runs its course, you will be again blessing your honkin'-chunk-of-Att gloves and continue to do so at least until 72.

Sounds to me like someone is tryin to get some competition out of the way. Kotes are nice the -5 eva isn't bad. I'd say go ahead and get em because the att does help. Plus you can use it for SAM and MNK if you ever decide to level those jobs.

yeh o kote are sexy , even if you use them at 75 theyre preety damn good, not as good as dusk but nobody will think you're a gimp.. er what Im trying to say is yes they are very good because they add a lot of dmg while you level and can even be used at 75

But as Amastacia said .. dont go insane trying to get them.. As well all know NM's can be a very luck of the draw deal and if you are unlucky it could take a LONG time to get them.. So you have to take that into consideration

You may find it easier to farm your ass off and buy the regular ones that to try and camp them. I dunno about your server but I spent hours trying eventually I said fuck it and just bought mine. Seems like it took me less time to farm for them than it took to try and camp them. But those were my third set after getting ripped off so many times. I may go back to camp em, only so I can sell the regular ones, nice thing about the non r/e ones is you can turn around and sell em if you decide that they are not for you. Where as the r/e ones you spent a lot of time on something you may decide you don't like using and now it is just taking up another slot.

I camped both for a week straight and then just gave up and bought okotes. Like already said, they are a great piece of gear til 75.

You can definitely see a sizable difference between a DD gear set (at that level set okotes + atk earrings = dd gear set) and a low gil AH set.

At 50ish you'll still only have about 200ish attack, so okotes are giving you a 10% increase in attack (which is huge for a single piece of gear). Below 50 they are just more bang.

If you find yourself having trouble managing with floored evasion... say entry level lesser colibri, you can always take them off if you like. But once you ding jin. dd build often becomes a quiet passion.
