Hold agro on evil oscar, position your puppet on his back. Extremely bad breath isn't a 360 degree AoE, is it? so you should be fine.

I know it has much wider and longer range than Bad Breath, not sure about 360 degrees though.

I just tried it but failed horribly. I started off with Blizz 4 with 2 Ice maneuvers and Ice maker, got down to 95%. after that used Ventriloquy and got hate. Not long after I lost all my shadows and got hit once for about 200-250. Casted Utsusemi Ni. I ran to the back and swapped my black mage puppet for white mage puppet while doing so ( I could easily outrun it since I had Hermes' sandals ) I then engaged it, but at the same time it readied EBB and thought I was screwed. But I was fast enough to avoid it, it was a really long casting time. But after that I tried to tank it, it went all wrong. It went through my shadows really fast and I got hit, gavitied. I also made a mistake equiping flash bulb instead of eraser (I only had one of them so I could swap puppet heads) I quickly got my shadows up and swapped my flash bulb for eraser, summoned, light maneuver and engaged. Cure V and no erase (Eraser doesn't erase gravity it seems?) After he casted Regen III. readied EBB again and died.

Attachments like Eraser have an internal cooldown. Upon activating a puppet, the cooldowns start counting down. Basically, your puppet can't pop off any JA attachments for a while after being summoned.

You would have been better off going for WHM puppet full time.

Ah I see, thanks Kleiner. I wanted to start off with BLM puppet so I could get a hate build at the start. I don't know, I might try it again when I get some merits sorted out. Though PUPs evasion I find has a real issue, I find it weird that SAM has a better evasion skill than PUP. >_>

Does EBB for sure kill the puppet? Not sure how death works, but could puppet have some immunity (it is inorganic ) or would it just die if Oscar EBB'd the puppet?

Also if you switch hate after it starts charging, or for any hate change, does it switch to face who has hate or just stay facing the person it casted on? Would it be possible to move out of the front arc or once it starts you can only run out of range?

EBB kills puppet, confirmed.

As for the hate swap I'm not sure if it will swap it's EBB, but I think it will stay on the target it casted.

Well their skill is only 6 points higher than ours, but they dont have Evasion Bonus like us. So I think that, along with gear puts us well above SAM.

Anyhow, I'd go with as Kleiner stated - full time Soulsoother. Maybe pop an icarus wing and initiate with a Stringing Pummel. Soulsoother does pretty well with not taking hate so that should solidify it pretty early for you. Go with Flashbulb and Eraser. When soloing something, Flashbulb should be a must have (in my opinion at least) especially when trying to put shadows back up.

Did you use any food? A personal choice of mine for a fight like this would be between a Jack-o'-lantern for the Acc/Eva or Navarin for the Eva/Att/STR.

Both are 3hr foods, so maybe when you're finished (if you survive) you can spend the rest of that time doing campaign battles.

I was using attack food, maybe jack-o'-lantern would've been better. If I try again I'll try what you said, just too bad I still don't have stringing pummel ;;
