So I recently obtained my last 35 to complete my full Ares's set, and I've been scouring all the FFXI sites for information on the double attack bonus for the full set.

I've seen 2 figures thrown around 5% and 10%. Has anyone got any concrete information to substantiate either of these 2 figures? Or are they just estimates/eyeballing.


On another note, any other Dragoons with 5/5 Ares's care to share their experience/thoughts on TPing in the full set?

I know about haste vs double attack etc, I was thinking of specific situations whereby you may want to use 5/5 instead of a full haste build. I guess a Zerg with Spirit Surge haste bonus + SV Marches+Haste comes to mind.

I believe its 5% (all salvage sets give 5 set bonus).

When i finally get my final piece (0/42 ares's legs...), i will use the full set to WS in, but never to TP in.

Catastrophe != Geirskogul and DRK != DRG. Just because it supposedly works well for a single WS on another job doesn't automatically make it good everywhere else.

Im struggling to see whats so wrong with using full ares's for something like penta or drakes. I mean each piece alone are great as stand alone WS pieces, and the 5% DA bonus is great. For someone who doesnt do HNMs / Sky etc for Heca etc I think full ares's will be fantastic for WSing in.

I mean if i could get any piece i would probably go for a mixture of heca/zahaks/ares's etc, but i wouldnt say the full set should never be used.

If you didn't have any hecatomb pieces, Zahak's Mail, or Aurum Cuirass it would be acceptable, yes. When statements like that are made however it is considering all gear options are equally available. Check my sig for what I'm using. I'd consider swapping in Ares's Gauntlets if Zebra Zachary ever decides to show his (I assume) ugly face. I wouldn't know what it looks like though considering I've never seen him.

I'm just saying people are hardly going to point at you and go "lol you WS in full ares's!".

Took me 8 months to see my first Zebra Zachery ... then a new BLM on the run "Accidently" blizzaga III'd 3 colibri .... yeahhh, though i am happy i finally got it. 0/42 Ares's legs though, hate SSR.

I just saw my first SSR drop in over 80 runs (with 3-4 NM's each run), and it was Macha's slops :3
It was alright because my lady friend got them.
