Sorry to make a Topic for such a silly question but still!

A few days ago i got a Denali Bonnet, and was wondering in what situation is it better to use bonnet over W.Turbant? Solo? Merit? ect.... or is it just a town gear helm for ninja!?

I guess whenever you're stacking evasion while soloing or something and you're too lazy to macro in/off Optical Hat with Turban.

Skimmed over the content of the thread. Having read the title though, i'm pretty sure the answer is "no"

Having skimmed the five sentences that make up this post.

I'm skeptical if 3atk will ever out do 1% haste for usually damage. However, it could have uses for farming when you want a little bit of defense. So it's like a lazy combination of an ohat, turban, and defense. Not best at any, but good if you doing something unimportant that you don't want to swap gear for.

Denali is much better than wala turban for alot of reason for nin.

+4 Agil= more evasion
+3 evasion= yes please
+3 attack = yes please

21 def when turban has 0 def.

all that traded for 1% haste
please don't mention the 30hp cause it means nothing really.

Denali stats:
AGI & EVA = If you're trying to be evasive for low man or whatever, use O-hat with Turban on casts. Don't use mixed gear.
ATK & Haste = Trying to max damage, use Turban. Attack in that amount has nothing on haste.
21 DEF = Trying to create an "Oh Shit" macro or something use Arhat's Jinpachi (+1).
Haste for casts = Turban, duh.

This game is about maxing out yourself for each unique situation. Unfortunately while Denali has nice stats, it's mixed gear and it really doesn't outperform any head pieces in any specific situation. Except when you're showing off. tongue.gif

Then don't mention 21 def, seriously.

No, just no.

Most of the time Evasion is overrated or a secondary concern to damage output (and thus hate control). Evasion is a corner case and best suited to a dedicated evasion build, of which Denali Bonnet is unlikely to be part.

It's an acceptable piece if you mostly solo and fight things in the range where you want to balance kill speed against survivability (so like high DC to mid T), but that's the only time.

In party situations you should have sufficient support that timers are a relative non-issue, and thus sacrificing in other areas to protect shadows is unnecessary. If you're small-manning something where shadow rape is a real concern, kill speed usually isn't and the strategy is centered wholly around controlling the fight and maximizing survivability at the cost of speed. Trading off more Haste for more Evasion in that situation may be entirely warranted.

I disagree. Best overall piece is Turban because Haste has increasing returns and Evasion isn't a priority for most things most of the time.

Mediocre hybrid gear sets are useless for the most part. Just like people pick jobs that specialize in one area, it's usually best to select gear to maximize some aspect that's applicable to the situation at hand.

And if you really want to split hairs, the best overall piece is Usukane Somen (unless your Acc is > 92%, in which case it's Turban). wink.gif

man never thought some one would resurrect this post but any way!
I usually use this helm if i need moderate evasion for solo farming,
in a combo with!

Senjuinrikio
Shiranui +3
Ungur Boomerang +8
Denali Bonet +4eva/agi
Eva Torque +7skill
Etheral Ear +5
Brutal Ear
SH +10
Rase. Tekko +10
Corse Cape +7
Velocious Belt
Koga Hakama +10(night)
Fuma Sune-Ate +4agi

and it has some haste to speed thing up ~18% speed too!

I don't see why people would label Denali Bonnet as "mediocre". While I understand Turban is better and all, I can understand someone who would choose Denali Bonnet as a simple aesthetic choice- it's not like we were unable to do half the things in the game back when we only had 2% haste for people not having gil coming out their ears. At some point I personally don't care much for "maximizing" jack shit, as long as I get the job done. =P

Flame away.
