Funny, the combination of your two sentences (being generous here) is exactly why I hate partying with most Dancers. They become so obsessed with their weaponskills once they have Dancing Edge that they never use another Waltz and have to be begged to remember Samba. This has happened several times on my White Mage now. Of course, someone will ask "Why isn't your White Mage Curing?" Well, when I'm the only mage in the party, I play like a Red Mage (Haste Haste Haste, enfeeble enfeeble enfeeble, struggle to regain MP), so the Dancer is there to keep the party going. Odd that it never works out that way until I have to pop Benediction.

Why not just level Thief if you're only interested in doing big dagger weaponskills? Then no one will complain that you're being bloody useless while people die.

Hell, my wyvern probably averages higher WS damage then half the DNC on this forum, not even exaggerating. i did birds nyzule, mamools nyzule, caederva, mamool ja... and always healed fine...i even got a mnk/war mnk/war, sam/nin, drk /sam, wich no decent healer coulda healed fine, but i did !
Every party i went in have change their thinkin about dnc after saw mine...you suck ? quite job thats all !!!

i dunno what kind of crappy dnc u been pting with,but the only time i WS is when im solo in campaign.any pts im in as soon as samba drops i put it back on,constantly applying steps & anyone in the pt goes below 3/4 hp im throwing them a cure or erase depending whats being fought.just like these full AF blu failures,dont put the minorty of us that do it properly in with these thf wannabes.

All I can say DNC is a great job and people need to learn how to work within it's limits. Everyone wants to be the e-peen healer and damage dealer... I learned you can't.. just be the good healer and see in what way you can improve your ability to contribute to a party.

I always like to play my DNC as a backup healer.. using my sambas and waltzes to minimize the amount of MP the main healer has to use or be the healer for the non /nin subbers in merit pts.. I dont mind being the cure bitch for a MNK/WAR who gets punch happy

And I haven't met a merit mob that could outlast me yet.. so whatever.

It's come to this.. dont like DNC.. don't play with them. Ain't gonna dance on your stage if you're gonna throw shit at my feet.

That's the problem. Like practically every other job leveling up, especially the newer ones (ToAU and WotG jobs - although, I haven't seen a truly god-awful Scholar yet), most Dancers outright suck and do not understand their place in the party. The job itself is fine for XP, but the players hurt.

take any healer, give him 2mnk/war and drk/sam and no voke, you'll see what he'll say after 10mn in merit if no everyone dead (and i'm whm-rdm myself, so i can say it sucks bad)...Dnc can !
