Heya sams,

So I want to cap my parrying and I've been wondering what the fastest way would be. The idea I had would be to go sam/dnc with soboro in a haste and -eva setup. fight the black mandies in the tree (my parrying is around 215, would another area be better?) and hope for the best while spamming waltzes

What did you guys do to cap your parrying? any idea would be great.

Thanks a lot in advance! cool.gif

Yea that sounds about right

Get ready to spend atleast 100+ hours in the tree. Bring snacks Your going to need them.
I for one will not go outa my way to cap a skill thats barely noticeable in any situation and HARD as hell to skill. So gl mines aroudn 240~245 and thats with years of having a random HNM take a swipe at me and getting an ossim skillup.

I had a MNK friend who skilled guard by loading up on guard gear and letting 2-3 mandies swing at her. of course 2-3 Korrigans might be a bit much but you get the idea. Didn't seem to take her TOO long. That said, idk if parry and guard skill at the same rate. I'll be trying myself once I get my Bushi to go along with my Tomoe, AF+1 pants, boxers mantle, and the parry torque buy just for the task of skilling.

When I was capping on NIN (back in the days before DNC), I could easily stay up with 2 steelshells hitting me for over an hour at a time using a mage sub and daggers for energy steal. With waltz, I would imagine you could handle 2 of those black mandies. A better place to skill up is the Temple Uggy zoneline in Den of Rancor. You can pull black mandies ranging from DC to T, you have a zone to escape to if something goes wrong, and no one ever goes there other than to skill up parrying/shield.

Honestly, I never bought into the whole -EVA gear thing. Your goal is to get as many hits past evasion check as you can tolerate, and you can better accomplish this by pulling multiple mobs rather than wearing -EVA. If you have support you can do something like what Ruke did with mandies and phalanx II.

All this being said, parrying is sort of a crappy skill in the first place. Capped skill will probably buy you something like a 5-7% parrying rate on hits past the evasion check. Even though I leveled it myself, I don't suggest you go out of your way to level it.

ENMITY MERITS!

257(I think?) Parrying here, but I -did- solo skill it from about 200-230~ before the /DNC kinda-nerf, by having Caedarva Mire chigoes (three) beat the shit out of me while I sat in (with no protect/phalanx/mage support),

Earth Staff(lolnq) | Pole Grip | Empty | Tiphia Sting
Arhat's Jinpachi +1 | Justice Torque | Bushinomimi | Brutal Earring
Arhat's Gi +1 | Seiryu's Kote | Jelly Ring | Rajas Ring
Boxer's Mantle | Warwolf Belt | Myochin Haidate +1 | Askar Gambieras

...about a year and a half ago now, for three hours. Goddamn I wish /DNC was still that powerful. -___-
