Hi,
I recently got back into the game and have been just figuring out how to play again and doing some basic stuff with the two xpacs they released since I've been gone.
I am now ready for campaign but I am not sure what I'm really supposed to do. An old friend of mine recommended nuking a big pile with a -ga, dying, RR, repeating, RR and then just buffing, healing and debuffing for decent points.
Is this what BLM typically do? Honestly, I'd prefer to try to be more effective, so I came here for some advice on how BLM around here participate in Campaign.
The second part of my question is, how do people gear for Campaign? Do you go for a solo setup, heavy int, or what?
I'll be thankful for any advice.

Just solo. If you need allied notes use a different job.

if your high enough and have /red, you can try dragging one away and soloing it. (this pisses a lot of people off) I have done the -ga a big group of em, but theres no reason to just die after, sleepga them and ga3 again. remember everything has mp so aspir is your friend.

Hmm... cool, this seems like a better option that whacking things with a stick. I'll try living through my -ga3 to land more. If it doesn't work too well, guess I'll level my monk more and hit things with my firsts instead.
Thanks for the info.

Even if its in complete I would suggest browing Ffxiclopedia's campaign calculation chart. May prove prudent
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Campaign...lculation_Guide
I used to do the manner in which your friend describes, not for exp, but for the sheer masochistic glee of being raped by many mobs and then having chances at mpking others (mainly my ls members)
All in All its best to go with mixing it up. Also if its a longer campaign battle in one zone; consider refreshing your tags.

As i was replying to posts i thought "what the hell" and replied to this one.
I found 2 ways of doing this,
Waiting till a mob @<20% then putting and full debuffs and nuking like a bitch then running like a girl.
Going for the "Real Black mages pull with Thundaga III" strat. by far the most fun if you dont mind alot of afk time.

You know... now that yo mention AFK time... might not be a bad idea to do this while I'm reading books for school... a little Thundaga III here, RR, rest/read, Thundaga III, RR, rest/read, collect XP, rinse and repeat...

I get decent 1.5k per wave by Curing first and Nuking second (no -ga). I usually went /sch and only fired off AM when I had Parsimony up. I also only used ES on Aspir.
As with any job in campaign, it's pretty much everyone for themselves. So either put on some -enmity or learn to spam the lower tiers for mp efficiency & survivability.

Yeah for epically long battles healing for half of them sucks. Esp when you get AoE'd or healing spike aggro.....

wait till the melees get the mob low (really need to learn timing) and nuke for the kill. you get a bonus for the kill shot.
otherwise be all around, little melee, little buff, little enfeeb, is the way to max out xp & notes.

i was messing around with this last night and full DoTs and T3's from when hate is virtually not an issue yeild good xp and a longer lived MP pool,
Waiting till mob almost dead and T4 and AMII is fun as well but less to do as needs more resting time.
Was hard to say what was best on xp as fights lasted from 5 mins to 45 mins
