i really think that group 1 merits are pretty much whatever you think you'd get more use out of.
triple attack is a must but after that the other 4 categories are all equally shitty enough to not make that big a difference in most situations. i divided into sata but its not a noticable thing.

lol i never said keep your bow out at all times. the chance to para is quite high, try it out. you open a fight with feint then lead it right into a para arrow then switch to crossbow. i have never tried it on HNMs but i have landed it on charby, guivre, puk in ISNM, pretty much anything that isnt immune to para to begin with and generally on the first hit. since the para lasts a very long time ur not switching back and forth between bow and crossbow. but if you dont believe it please do try it out for yourself. and on ziskas vs lamian for sleep well yes ziskas is faster but your not taking into consideration the delay on the ammo. sleep arrow is 90 vs sleep bolts 288

Oh, yeah that's a shame because AMMO DOES NOT EFFECT THE DELAY OF A RANGED WEAPON, ONLY TP RETURN.

Actually bows are a fairly good idea, if somewhat niche. Anyone who's been around for a while should remember Maxil, the japanese Galka famous for his videos on Stage6 before it was closed down. Soloing Fenrir/Holy Cow/Jorm (yeah he died, but he tanked it just fine 'til it took off), he would hit whatever he was fighting with an arrow to paralyze it, then swap back to his crossbow until para wore off. Useful in some situations, not all, and quite why you'd want to wear one full time is beyond me, so it's not even worth discussing.

I may not always be right, or know best.
In fact often I wont know the "perfect" answer.
I might write things off without thinking it through out of habit or different personal experiences, but the value in this guide is that someone who is still playing, and still playing the job, is updating it and listening.
Worse case scenario here is that I include your notes if they're valid, and just don't personally agree. So don't be discouraged. I'll try to be more open minded, this is a work in progress.

Overall, not a bad guide. Clearly, more stuff will be added and altered as you see fit, but it's good as is.

Honestly, I say be dickish when you write these things. It makes it more interesting to read when you can get a few laughs from it. Plus, do you really need detailed notes and explinations as to what you do with Evasion Skill?
It makes him sound childish and insecure, imo.
Not much guidance offered here. Nothing added from what info is already readily available, not sure what you're planning on adding later..
Honestly though, if you and treelo make a guide, think of how many less people there will be for you to bully! Your prime source of self confidence is at stake!

Are you one of the people Treelo trashed in a screenshot of your gear sucking or something?
This attitude that if you are mean to people you must be insecure and lack confidence is clearly a defense mechanism.

Irony...
Don't forget your penis must be small. This is proven fact!
TBH your whole internet tuf guy persona isn't as irritating as others, hence I don't really feel the need to "defend" myself. I was just supporting what some other guy said about the "I'm an asshole" tone of your guide.
I always think when reading through KI and BG... you know what's cooler than acting like a middle school playground bully? Acting like an mature, intelligent adult. I dunno, I just think anyone post-pubescent with any social intelligence just sees right through the act so it's kind of counter-productive.
idk, my gear's pretty awesome for 54... Just need to save up for another Sun Ring, and maybe some moon rings for when I get DE...

Ya know what else is a sign of being a mature, intelligent adult? Having a sense of humor and not crying because someone you never met said something in a "tone" you didn't like. This guide treats people like they have some semblance of intelligent, it doesn't pander to the dim-witted denizens who can't figure out basic concepts, nor should it. Complaining that this guide is immature because it's giving "aggressive advice"...while insulting the creators of it...is in and of itself an immature and childish act.
On topic: Two questions, one, when we getting an update to this? It's been two weeks and there hasn't really been any change or signs of an update =(
And two, I noticed something with the throwing skill bit.

It's not for pulling or....what? Prolly a minor typo, but I felt it should be addressed.

Where did I complain or insult them? There's a difference between criticism and insults. Duh, I'm immature. Otherwise I would have said, hmmph, and felt no need to comment. My immature is for the greater good, theirs is for... peen...
Like I said, his and Treelo's whole schtick doesn't bother me that much. I kind of "get it" but it's out of place in a guide.

Soon. And I'll look at editing it real quick.
I'm not sure what to tackle first;
Subjobs
How to play
Gear
or something else entirely.

Actually you can create a new one that says "Unless you are going for full DEX merits and Evis or that golden butter spreader, quit playing THF"
#55
Posted 21 March 2009 - 01:05 PM
i'd say subjobs, so people can get out of that /nin onry mentality.

Fucking fail.
Crits are only in substantial quantity on low enough targets (at most merit lvl mobs). Otherwise you won't get the exponential returns on crits from being at or near capped dex vs. agi. Crits also don't make as significant a difference on low targets. I'll take a guaranteed substantial bump in base dmg from chr over that. If you're a mithra tho maybe they'll be comparable.
And saying "quit THF if you don't plan on meriting dex" is just retarded. A minor increase in damage vs STR merits while wasting your potential on virtually any other melee job...not worth it unless you think of yourself as THF ONRY.

Out of all the THF guides that don't suck that I have read, this is by far the suckiest of the THF guides that don't suck.

Its why I said what I said. Most of the THFs on this board are THF only or THF Main with other jobs that don't need melee stats.

Take a look at where it comes from, and the spawn times, and how much people list it for on FFXIAH.
Very rare and hard to get, mostly not worth it unless you're filthy rich.
The guide isn't forgotten about I'm just not in THF mode lately so I don't wanna force it.
