So, I'm leveling NIN. A person leveling NIN, posting on a NIN forum!? Get out!

Sarcasm aside, I mostly have everything I want pretty much. I need my AF's, and weapons. Truthfully, that's about it (I've used NIN set-ups for situational tanking on MNK, while filling in ins and outs when I no longer had anything else to spend money on.) -Most-, if not all (except what was listed), I already have. But I now find myself in a predicament..

For end-game, HNM's, Sky, Sea, whatever... I was considering getting Terra's, Jupiter's, and Pluto's staff. I already have all of the NQ, and I technically do have the money to pay for them, -but- are they really doing anything more than the NQ's for NIN.. really? I'm having troubles seeing it as anything but E-Peen status, so I'm wondering if you guys can debunk or confirm my skeptisism.

(NOTE: I'm aware that even if one does intend to get these items, one must get everything else out of the way. For the sake of argument, assume I have mostly everything I already need.)

Sorry for double post, but just to clarify: I was planning to get them for resist sets. Neptune's for Tia and Cerberus, or what have you.

I have Neptune's for Tia, but usually you can hit 165-170 with only the NQ.

You know what's stupid? Relying on other people to supply you gear, especially when it's actually important gear. It's got nothing to do with "friendship" (although I don't loan out any expensive gear except to the two people who live three miles away from me), it's just common sense. I know that's going to be lost on you, Arkhan.

Big dif between loaning out jupiter's and loaning out neptune's. Neptune's is by far the least useful of the HQ staves, so if they have I doubt they would be as worried about gil like most people.

Personally I loan out a lot of gear to a select group of ls mates, usually when level syncing etc. but to each their own.

Juptiter's has uses on blm, sch, and rdm.
Terra's has uses on whm, blm, sch, rdm, brd, and random tanking jobs situationally
Pluto's has uses on any job using sleep or subbing sch to sleep.
I think cor and blu can gain from all 3 as well.

Neptune's...is useful when? When you're nuking in a lower tier spells? It might have uses for nin, but for any job it seems like a complete waste for how situational it is, or maybe I'm just spacing on the frequency of mobs you would nuke with water. Enfeebles that are water based for the mages are just poison I think.

Start leveling rdm, blm, and sch to justify your purchases!

Neptune's is useful for summoner. In fact it's a really good staff since leviathan is the summon to use when Garuda lacks accuracy.

Ninja doesn't care about HQ staves: it's either something you have because your other jobs use it, either something you don't have money to waste on. I used the Neptune's on Tiamat when my friend lend me his, and didn't see any difference, because it's easy to get fire resist gear.
However, some other HQ staves might be useful when building other resist builds ( like earth resist or ice resist sets), though I wouldn't buy them for mobs that are fought once in a blue moon.

I don't think any player in a competent ls ( aka a ls able to fight wyrms) can be worried about lending gear to a ls mate: the thief would be kicked from the ls, he would loose months of efforts worth points, his place in the queue for the item X he desperately wants, his mates... I don't think anyone would take the chance to loose things money can't buy to steal something that's not even worth 5M gil.
Even if it happened, the ls bank would probably refund the stolen staff btw.

But yeah, if you're a shitty player surrounded by shitty players in a shitty ls, you should avoid lending gear.
I would rather play in an enjoyable place with friendly people trusting each others than watch my back like if I were in prison... though you are free not to trust others

I will only loan gear to people that I know for alot of years though lol or irl friend.

when I will loan gear to new guys in ls if when Gm will be able to regive your gear but we all know that will never happend so I keep my gear.

Only reason i could see for needing HQ staves on nin would be terra/aquillo for hojo/jubaku accuracy... but in a group small enough to not have a RDM around you'll probably be using katanas to help damage anyway~
