I always notice a huge different in my numbers when I happen to lose chaos roll (smn+cor up on me) on Detonator. Same for Minuet. It makes me a sad panda to have to WS without minuet + chaos, lol. That being said, yah my detonators are generally constant but can/will spike much much higher. Obviously, though.. slug shot will always reign supreme in terms of damage.. just not reliability. (I only wish I could hit 2000+ slug shots 95% of the time without missing).

OK, it's starting to piss me off how I always do the exact same thing everyone else is doing but get nowhere close to the same results.
I was meriting at birds and parsing 50% slug shot accuracy. Whenever I actually hit, I was averaging ~850...with chaos roll and one minuet against piercing-weak mobs, no less.
So I dropped a boatload of STR to up my RACC, getting up to about +45 RACC from gear, accuracy bonus from RNG sub, +5 marksmanship from gun belt, 4/8 marksmanship merits, and a martial gun.
Still missed half my slug shots.
Now, I know I've seen people post with circumstances damn close to those who are claiming to cut through birds like butter, so why the hell are my results so shitty?

Bit of a late reply, but on DI I actually just pop on all the R.acc, pop RNG and DRK rolls (Usually with a RNG in the party, sometimes a DRK) eat sushi and fire Slug Shot instead of Detonator. I average around 500-600 with that usually.
The colibri numbers sound about right to me. 1k base - 1.3 with zerk up for Detonator.

Slug shot will always be iffy since we have a lower skill cap than RNGs. I've noticed a far better accuracy ratio when I use crimson hands and a martial gun however. I'd also wear a pahluwan body/af over the blue cotehardie. You could then replace your optical hat with your AF hate for the STR mod.

I noticed two major things about your slug shot build. One being pallas bracelets (- agi, just stick with blood guantlets if you can.. NQ if not) and the other being spectacles. If you have access to sea you should work on getting light gorget a.s.a.p. since it works for slug/det both. I tried using alky on slug shot and I just didn't like losing 11 R.Acc/R.Att on slug shot.
Also, going from subs to sushi you're gonna notice a HUGE dip in damage but a rise in accuracy. Hence why I use detonator with subs for my 1000+ everytime hits and never miss!

No crimson/blood available. I can switch to pahluwan and ditch the bracelets, but if those changes are necessary on top of everything I've already changed for the sake of simply landing the shot, I'd wonder why I'm even bothering. My WS would be so stripped of its power I'd basically be reduced to WSing with my ranged TP gear, which means the damage is going to be terrible. And these are lolibri, for heaven's sake. It's not like I'm trying to slug shot Byakko. 
That said, it sounds like it's time for me to perhaps beef up my detonator as much as possible and forget slug shot unless I'm fighting something several levels below me.

Truth be told I just generally use my "Shooting for TP" gear for slug shot and have worked since day one on a perfect detonator setup. Shooting for TP and slugging generally use the same gear anyways aside from neck pieces.
Also, beefing up Detonator is good anyways to use on end-game mobs that are evasive~esque (pretty much anything for Cor).

I think I've balanced it OK now. Yesterday I parsed ~90% weapon skill accuracy with /WAR and sushi. Detonator actually produced substantially better results damage-wise (hovering around 1200 with the occasional spike up to 1400), but I think it was because I often ended up saving 200% TP before firing (nothing intentional, really, but the warrior didn't provoke, and I was tired of eating a snatch morsel after every weapon skill, so I let someone else establish hate for a little while first). My slugs ended up at about 1k apiece average, which is nothing to write home about, but I think with the gear I've got, it's probably the best I can pull without dropping below the 90% mark. I also had the advantage of Dia II, but I was receiving double march instead of minuet, so I'm sure it would balance out under different circumstances. Next time I might try /RNG with meat to see how it compares, but already I'm feeling better.
