Alright, I started my alchemy about 2 weeks ago and got it to 50 in about a week and a half. Normally I would either buy/farm enough stuff to get me a stack's worth of what I was making at 6-7 lvls above my cap to speed things along and that normally would give me a lvl. Now that I hit 50, I tried this again and I only wind up getting maybe .3 outta of a stack of what I'm doing now. My question is has everyone else experienced this or is this just some streak of bad luck I ran into?

Also, for those who are past 60, does it get any better due to the fact that SE may be doing this to slow down people from getting their subs?

From what I remember, 60 is when you hit the slow-down for skillup, but I could be mistaken. Sometimes it's just random, though. In my 30-49 days I'd sometimes craft and get a whole point of skill off half a stack of supplies, and other days, I'd blow through 3 stacks and get nothing. It's the same as HQs... luck, random, moon/day/whatever you choose to think is responsible, crafting results are anything but predictable.

Alchemy is a bitch. Lots of break and not many skill ups. Same for my character getting to 60, and same for my friend who has it at 98.

Roughly, from levels 1-50 you can gain a level of skill off a stack of synths, getting 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 skillups. At 50+ the amount of skillups you receive is reduced drastically, so it will take around maybe 30ish synths for a skill level. However, 0.2 skillups are still available from 50-60, but I have never gotten anything above a 0.1 skillup post 60. Naturally, once you hit 60 it will take a few more synths to gain a level because of this. Expect around 35ish synths per level post 60. You should and will see your skillup rate go to hell at this point and it will stay there till it hits 100. (numbers are just very rough estimates)

Whether or not you get a skillup is just dumb probability, like HQ. I've gone 0/20+ many times but it all evens out. Regardless of the craft at hand, probability doesn't lie. It has sometimes seemed like some items have either a horrible or excellent skillup rate, but I never did enough research to see if it was anything more then a good or bad run. I assume that's all it is.

As far as I'm concerned, it is impossible to get over a 0.1 skill up post 60.

skillups slow down at 50 and then even more post 60. You will probably never get a .2 or .3 past 60, if you are farming your whole way through and alchemy is going to be the main job... i suggest farming NM to pay for it if you can alchemy is pretty cheap however you look at it. i took it to 60 and i PL'd via the AH cuz i had rolls of gil at the time, it only cost me around 1mil to PL from 1-60 then. maybe now 2mil who knows, i havnt logged in game in over a month

I concur with this now, I haven't seen a .2+ since I dinged 60, and I've gone to 85.
