Popping and Soloing Despot on COR

Ok, so, basically, I wanna start soloing shit on COR. Screw my RDM. -.-

I'm thinking of starting with Despot, but sadly I don't know many COR on my server, so I'll ask y'all.

What do I need to solo Despot? What Cards, how many, do I need movement speed gear, what food helps, and how the heck do I pop him alone? Where's a good kite area? Are there problems with him going yellow?

What's the strat? <DMG> Shot -> Light Shot -> repeat til hes dead?

You have to be able to solo the PH holder dolls, since it pops claimed to you once you've killed the lucky PH. I've never heard of COR being able to solo Despot. I imagine this would be quite hard without some form of gravity or bind. I also don't think he sleeps. I've duo'd it on BLM before.

If you have movement speed (which is relatively easy with hermes) it should be cake.
Find a loop, like the ponds at the south. (lots of options since you won't magic aggro)
Shoot it til its dead.

Without movement speed you'll lose ground to animation lock and die.
With it, the only thing you'll have to worry about is getting so far ahead that he turns around and cuts you off.

With equipment swaps to blink out all your JAs and any piece of movement speed gear, you can solo basically any NM that has normal movement speed, as long as there are no unnecessary adds. While keeping buffs up and kiting, the usual chain of events is QD -> repeat until death.

The way I solo it on BLM is probably similar to how a COR would solo.

I would sub ninja to avoid his TP moves first off. Movement speed isn't required at all but helps a great deal since he will run faster than you will.

Drag PHs to the east pond and kill them there. The way this works is you can run through the bushes and Despot cannot, so if you blink your animations you can keep enough distance between you and him and avoid him the entire fight if done right.

I would idle in some sort of damage mitigation gear + Earth Staff just in case.

Not a hard fight but can be sloppy on your first attempt.

Well I know RDM solo it Sleep -> Nuke strategy, so I think its safe to say he can be slept. I just don't know with Light Shot.

When I solo I bring every set of elemenal cards with me and all my staves. And fire in this order:

Fire > Ice > Wind > Earth > Thunder > Water > Fire

I slap on an obi and use the proper card of the day. On Lightsday/Darksday I just use Wind Shot, usually.

To solo despot is simple.

Simply have a QD order as Corrderio mentioned

Fire -> Earth -> Ice -> Thunder -> etc............

You must have some form of +movement speed or you are for a lack of a better word screwed.

/NIN of course

And you must use the blink method so the animation of QD doesnt make you stop and allow him to catch up to you.

/equip main "Fire Staff" <me>
/ja "Fire Shot" <t>
/equip main "Dark Staff"

Somethin simple like that. No /waits in the macro.

You'll want to blink all your rolls as well.

Also I never thought Dancer's Roll was useful fer shit ti'll I soloed Brass Borer.

I've soloed Despot quite a few times this way as well as Steam Cleaner.

[Been a good solid 6 months since I've soloed anything, they may have fixed it to where you cant blink anymore idk.]

I don't quite get it; why the order of shots? Why not just stick to shot of day; or do you lack Obis?

I was about to ask the same thing, to the best of my knowledge cards aren't like ninjutsu/AMII and lower mEva. I tried when I first reached quick draw level and never noticed it, and even now I don't notice it. I'm guessing its just one of those things that people prefer to do, but I like to just stack MAB(Agi everywhere else) then HQ Staff/(Certain ele grips also since I already have them from BLM) and OBI for appropriate day/weather. With exceptions to certain mobs of course~

You don't need an order, but I do it just for the hell of it.

I'd like to say, I saw this post regarding Despot so I thought I'd give it a shot my first time. I came /blm and was honestly expecting a wipe but Despot is actually EASIER than the PH to solo, and I'm not even joking. For some reason his flight path just seemed slower and more awkard.

As for where I kited him, I got bored running around in a small circle where you enter to go up to pots for water.. SO.. I actually kited him aroun the ENTIRE main island for shits and giggles. Up stairs, down stairs, around bushes, trees, etc. He's honestly very easy so yah.. just letting Cors now happy.gif

Also, I was lucky and happene to bring my neptunes/obi and it popped on Waters day! Made for a quicker kill!

I only have light/dark Obis.
I've always done it with an order on Despot, with no obis using the card corresponding with the day the extra DMG that could kick in is too insignificant to make much of a difference (to me anyways). Normally all my shots on him do 380~400+ regardless of element.

Heavy into ZNMs now and recently I've soloed, Cheese Hoarder Gigiroon, Iriz Ima (long fight), Chigre, Wulgaru (easy shit), Brass Borer (Easy), and Anantaboga (hardest out of all of them due to Dahaks and Ghosts at night).

I decided to mess around a bit with groundskeepers tonight (I watched Despot die and thus wasn't really camping it but simply practicing the kiting path), and they seemed to have a rather annoying habit of losing interest in me, and if my quick draw timer was down, depopping. Anyone else have this problem? Is it something you need to worry about for Despot itself?

Eh, it's not really insignificant. You're increasing your damage by 10-35% if it procs. Even if you don't have the correct obi, you should still use the QD corresponding to day and/or weather, unless elemental weaknesses come into play.

I'm seeing also it's kind of frustrating simply trying to pop him, because it takes quite a long while to kill the placeholders with quick draw and if anyone else is camping as well, they're liking to be killing a lot faster and therefore getting more chances for him to pop. I tried to melee one to death, but after I got hit with slow I couldn't keep my shadows up. I guess it might work better with dancer sub, but I'm not sure. How did you guys kill the PHs, just patiently?

I just QD, takes some patience, I wouldnt even try this w/o maxed QD merrits in timer at the very least every second makes a difference
