He's actually entirely able to solo them, Amanomurakumo is sick. He also has a White Mage that he dual-boxes, it's just that he's not so good at handling both at once, so I try to watch his back.

But outside of Dynamis, I know that outside healers are used for certain fights (Alastor Antlion and Jailer of Faith to avoid Breakga, I think?) and as nice as it is to say "Make a macro with Johnny's name in it," that doesn't help much when you've got to heal more than just Johnny since AoE damage is a given. My sky LS now regularly has more than 18 people show up to fights and although we presently just have some DDs sit out, sooner or later we may throw a healer or two outside the alliance instead. Einherjar is another one of those places where a lot of healing has to get tossed in different directions. Honestly, I just wish SE would find some way to recode the game so that focus isn't lost when someone changes gear. I hate to mention WoW, but people can change gear constantly (as long as they're not in combat) and there's no reloading necessary nor dropped targeting.

But, again, I'm not saying that a Paladin should avoid visible gear swaps. I'm just saying that there is a point where being permanently invisible except maybe for a second or two during Utsusemi: Ichi casts can be as much a hindrance as a help. I still wouldn't make a half-assed Haubergeon out of Nuevo Coselete, though, when Fast Cast and Enmity are the obvious best combination for Paladin.

the thing is that for example on JoFa, you dont have a shitload of people to stona right away. as you said, its the tanks, its at most 2 macros on top of the normal stona one, switching lines in the worst case doesnt take years and its not hard to have 2 macros with stona for emergencies. so there is no reason to not blink like a christmas tree even when a WHM is outside alliance.

personally if i was a WHM id do my best to have CV and Stona macros with name in them for both tanks, as a PLD i find both unavoidable.

as we said, a PLD is as good as his supports, if the supports cant follow the PLD then there is a problem which result in not optimal hate and fear from the PLD toward his supports which isnt a good situation to tank in. the guy tanking takes time making switch for everything (and there are a ot of things to take into account), trying to time everything right and all (lets say its a good tank), if the mage behind doesnt want to "sacrifice" 2 macros with his name in it to make the thing even better, i dont think the problem is the PLD blinking and whatever you do you'll always have a tank or 2 tanks so there is no reason to not have the said emergency macros. its just universal.

Play a mage job, Yuffy. The updates to White Mage next week have me gagging because I have no clue how I'm going to work those spells into my palettes when I already use three just to play WHM/SCH.

Jailer of Faith was just this thing we call an "example," though. I've only ever fought it in a group of five, anyhow, so the point is moot for my experience.

i totally understand this feeling, i have a lot of jobs i had to split on two lines or more and its far from pleasant to use but still, its needed, thats the problem.

when i tank i personally think about one thing, making the most hate possible even if i blood tank for a few, you'll never ever see the mob turn away from me and there is an exca/aegis next to me, thats how i see tanking. and if i can do this its because i know that behind me there is a WHM ready to cover anything that can happen to me without giving me excuse when he/she fucks up.

shit happens but if you try hard it doesnt matter, at least you tried. i never bitched at a WHM who couldnt target me because i totally know that i blink too much but at least he tried, thats something to respect. the problem i see nowadays is that people dont try, they just pop excuses.

ya for JoFa i didnt fight it in very long and back then it was 12+ with outside WHM so i'm used to the situation tongue.gif

Something I've noticed in this thread, and in general experience with tanks in game: People who don't understand enmity tend to believe 720-750dmg from Atonement means they are "capped" on hate. This seems to be the common misconception among PLDs, and with that AsDraBael guy, as well.

Lolwut?

I can cap atonement in sub 30 seconds. It takes me about 4 and a half minutes to cap hate. Where did I ever say that I use atonement to judge my hate?

I judge capped hate by my cotank. Even with the same gear and playstyle, you still gain hate at slightly different levels at different times depending on how you start, how often the mob double attacks, etc. You can tell when you get capped because you start to pull hate by casting Ichi, or you can do a cure 2 to yourself and pull hate off the cotank, and the cotank can do the same thing. Its easy as hell to see, and pretty hard to mistake.

Get off my nuts and quit making retarded assumptions about things I never said.

Out of curiosity, what do you do to cap atonement damage in sub 30 seconds?

That wouldn't even remotely cap your CE, and capped VE doesn't exhibit the any-action-trade-off you're describing that only happens when you both cap your CE.

He wasnt implying capping his hate, but capping his Atonement. Although it might look that way if you didnt read his previous post.
