To add to that, I would say in endgame situation wivre is not as useful as the other options mentioned. At its level and up until the point you can use koenig it would be my favorite.

Well, we have a small group that goes after shield NM every so often so Terror is out til it drops. So I might as well hold Wivre til Terror drops.

Shields:

You only really have 3 options in my opinion as far as shields go.

Your 1st option being the tried and true Koenig/Kaiser Shield. Its a size 3 shield so it has good proc rate with good damage mitigation, Enmity+3/4 and Beast Killer which is great for stuff like Kirin King Behemoth Byakko ect.

Your 2nd option is a pretty good shield although in my opinion not as good as the Kaiser and only slightly better then Koenig. The Terror Shield its a size 3 shield and it has HP+20 and Enmity+4. Not worth the price tag if you ask me. But if you can get your hands on this without having to buy it go for it.

As for your 3rd option we have a long running dream of mine. The Aegis, this is without a doubt the best shield in the game. It makes tanking as PLD/NIN a breeze due to the 50-60% block rate and 75% Damage reduction upon shield block. Not to mention the -25% Magic damage taken. The +200% Shield Bash damage is nice too.

You could use that if you want however I don't think the added enmity you gain from it vs the def it has compared to Koenig/Kaiser or Terror is worth it.

If your hitting at least +24 enmity on flash and around +33 for cures/sent/rampart you should have all the enmity you really need. While its nice to have the most you can get I dont think the +1-2 enmity you get from that shield is worth the def you lose.

The reason I posted that I dont think it is worth the gil is because the price on Bahamut is jacked up pretty high 1.5 mil vs 220k for a shield that is only marginally better in some instances. Koenig would still be better in fights vs Beast type mobs ie: Byakko Kirin KB ect. If you could get the shield for free or for a good price then yeah I would say go for it although +1 Enmity and 20 HP isn't going to greatly effect anyone's tanking ability seeing as if you stack enmity as I posted in the guide you'll have plenty for holding hate unless your DD or mages have absolutely no grasp of how to manage hate. So if the price where to drop considerably I would adjust the guide accordingly.

I find this extremely ironic. The price tag on the Terror Shield is high, but it is better than even Kaiser, which is almost twice, if not more, the price on most servers. Yet people white-box everything they can for the most minimal increments in existance (i.e. Lamia Kaman +1 for 1.2m~ I think it is on my server. Yay 2 MP, and 1 MDB).

Short story:
HP added on Terror = Higher MaxHP = Less CE lost. every. hit.
Defense on Koenig / Kaiser which is 5 or so extra defense from Terror. Adding an extra 2%~ of damage mitigation on Shield Blocks (something not occuring every hit).
So, let's see... Better, cheaper, looks awesome, and adds the effect of awesome of campaign. I'd say Terror wins for both price tag and usage.

Next time for anyone reading this, thinking of saving up for a Lamian Kaman+1, just say "Fuck it," and buy a Terror Shield.
