I'm playing WoW too, 80 Ret paladin, 80 rogue.
Overall FFXI is a much better game in my opinion, it just lacks PvP, which is why I quit.

Dude, back before TP burns, you were lucky to get 5k an hour. When you lose that due to someone's stupidity or inept ability to tank/heal properly, then yeah, there's a problem. Why do you think they eventually nerfed xp loss? When the majority is "whining" it is no longer whining, it's a needed change to the game.

I still call 5k/hr Godly xp....but thats cause I never lvl sync down to birds constantly like basically the rest of the world does. I hate birds and how much people do kill the bloody colibris. Personally I rather put up with an overly crowded Caedarva Mire and get like 4k/hr... God how I miss those days, or hell better yet lets party in Sky!!!! Or better yet Bibiki Bay which i still party at. The good 'ole zones are always the best :3

i must have reached endgame stupidity too late, i dont remember living the 5k loss or maybe at the very start, so old ;;

just saying that how it is right now (because there is no way they will go back to how it was at start if they were supposed to use the same system, if they do use the same system or not isnt the point), its not hurting at all.

only moment where R1 sometime annoy me is when i level a job and i down level, otherwise i'm used to lose 10k exp over the course of an afternoon or 2 days at most, no big deal

as for astral burns ... i honestly dont know if anyone tried on unicorn, all the times iv ran through korroloka for example, i dont remember seeing anyone in area doing this

i swear we are 5 years late on everything on this server, endgame PLDs tank in 2004 gear, nobody farm tavnazia/DL, people outside of JP community are just starting to do salvage and we dont astral burn, ENJOY COUNTRYSIDE

Never said TP burns are still in effect, although I'm sure they are. I was talking about the XP grind back when you had to have a balanced setup, or a manaburn. Astralburns are cheap imo, doesn't stop me from doing them when I get a chance though lol. It's funny, because a few years ago, astralburns meant a party of SMNs going to kill pots or anything else weak against Titan/Ramuh, now all it means is AoEing the hell out of a whole zone. lol

You don't even have to use AF though. You can easily use Thunder Spark to AoE the train.

no you cant unsless you sync at 19(thunderspark is 19!) wich would be a waste normally you would go
3 smns 2 leeches 1 sync(13-14), so it would take and eternity and 9 flows would almost kill all pull but a few and leave you exactly at 19-21 to be able to finish it with thunderspark.

ugh i wanna come back to this game so bad. I think its been a year or so since i'v been gone. Left origionally because i felt like it was consuming too much of my life after 6yrs, and thought i had done pretty much all there was to be done and gotten everything i could get. Im realizing no other game made me as excited to get home and play than this one, but if i cant get my char back that someone else sold (gave friend info to put it in their credit card so they could use it since i thought i was done for good, and wasnt gonna pay for them to use it) than i dont think i can redo lvling 6 jobs to 75 with relic, sky, sea, HNM, limbus gear on all of them. Not to mention having every mission aside from WoG done, but i really do miss it.

Oh boy, good old Unicorn.... I didn't really get a lot done on here, due to constantly joining linkshells that either dissolved soon after, or had enough incompetant fools to halt progression. In spite of all this, however, I greatly miss FFXI and Unicorn. There isn't a day that I don't think of reactivating my account and jumping on Shuggo, but then I think "And what will I do?" Most of my friends have quit, to my knowledge, but honestly only one month's payment wouldn't be that big of a deal to experience some nostalgia.

I, like many others, have jump to WoW, mainly because it is free to me and I have tons of friends that play. However my guild has trouble keeping decent memebers due to our poor ones, and our surver seems corrupted by the filth that think a Shaman can spam CH only..... Anyway, I may one day indeed jump back into this awesome game, but I'm definetly biding my time for 14's Beta.

Lol, you can still get 50k XP a pull in Korr at 19. When I did it, we used AF the first time, then Thunderspark after that wore off.

I havn't exactly quit... I take long extended breaks like 6-8 months, pop in randomly for about a month.. maybe 2x a week.

When i do I will log in and craft for like five minutes and lose a billion gil, log off, beat my head against a wall and repeat the entire cycle of disappearing and reappearing because i'm a fucking magician like that.

Why i still pay for this shit? I dont know.. this has been my ffxi experience for roughly the past 2 years. Honestly I feel like there's nothing left I achieved anything in ffxi i gave a flying crap about so ... my days have been numbered for quite some time lol

Luckily for me I don't have funds to pay my bill for ffxi for next month, so i'll have a month away from this festering shitpile called unicorn. At least until I can find employment, I got laid off last month =(

well i left unicorn about 3 years ago to another server and the grass is some times greener on the other side in this case remora which has its problem like any other server . Dont think anyone will remember me since most of my friend i think left/quit playing

Pretty much quit FFXI for a lot of reasons:

1: Takes waaaaay more time and effort than I was willing to put into a video game to get something done like a mission or lots of endgame events (like sky).

2: Little reward to how much time you put into the game (just MY opinion; but 2% drop rate on items 5+ people may want on a 24 hour spawn window when you may not even get claim stunk)

3: Job imbalancing, ie jobs like DNC and BST are not IDEAL (notice I said ideal not TOTALLY unacceptable) for endgame and usually get the shaft

4: SE treats their customers like shit.

5: NO PVP ANYMORE

6: Oh and lastly I dislike how SE reintroduces unpopular content already ingame to assist with newer content.
