Sorry MD bailed on Titan and you are asshurt about it. But, from the way some of you treated him, can't say I really blame the guy. I never did a lot of events with MD, so I can't vouch for his skills, but I can vouch for myself and what matters to me in game, and that is how people behave towards me. MD was always nice to me and we always had nice convos, in fact he and Bosd and some of the old crew were some of my best times on this game. Friendship and honesty mean a lot more to me than play skill, because the fact of the matter is I am SO skilled I can make up for my friends short comings, it happens every night, and I'm sure i'm not the only one. That being said, I'm sorry the MD I knew was not the MD you had the pleasure of dealing with. Q Q for you sweetie pie.. ass hurt much? Not really interested in the actual topic since I don't really know any of you. Just wanted to comment that while I don't really make many posts, I've trolled this site for years. And it seems like everytime I see your name come up Drag, you somehow find a way to mention that Ballista thing from however many years ago, how awesome you thought you were, and how bitter you are you lost. I sorta vaguely remember that Map beat you or something along those lines with a naked BLM? I could be wrong. But in any case, isn't it roughly time to let the ol Ballista glory days go? Does it really matter anymore? It's Ballista. Who even does that?

Bavaria, I reference the ballista royale experience because it is the nucleus of any negativity you've read about me here. I've never screwed anyone over, I never stole anything ever from anyone, I always pull my weight @ any event I'm attending and I'm always nice and helping people. The only blemish I have is not taking shit from a bunch of gil spammers for talking shit to me because I didn't throw money to win an event. So, yeah, I think it's laughable myself that this is the cause of some of my Killingifrit flaming, so since it is such a hot button topic when it comes to me, I figured it was a easily memorable event to reference, reguardless of if one turd doesn't think it takes skill to dominate a ballista. Not play in, not win, not have fun.. DOMINATE. You go out there and suck in nation ballista and see if you can single handedly control the whole game. wow we posted at the same time! how cute! So now, all I can say is, really just WOW man. I was NEVER in Synergy and I certainly never got kicked out. I've never been kicked out of any linkshell, especially for a lack of lolskill.

The only time my team got around me was when they were running for help or trying to steal one of my kills.

Back to the ballista thing for a sec though. And I'm not really trolling here since I actually don't know, but is ballista even that hard? I've only done it a handful of times so my opinion doesn't really count for much. But from what I saw of it, it's really quite job specific. What I mean is, it seemed to me that certain jobs just naturally had a big advantage against other jobs. Unless you're saying you always took on people of the same job and always kicked their ass, in which case yeah you were pretty good if no one could beat you I suppose.

I remember once a MNK friend of mine was going on about killing me in ballista on my PLD. I said sure and asked him what he wanted me to sub. He said anything I want because it wouldn't matter. So I subbed a level 1 job just to be a smart ass really. And I tore him up... it wasn't even close. A THF friend of ours was there to watch too. I fought him after and he basically just bloody bolted me to death, there was nothing I could do. I thought ballista sucked after that and just didn't do it anymore.

But anyway, go go server jumping relic guy drama!

Hey Bav, essentially you are correct, lots of jobs have obvious advantages in that, well either you are made for the front lines or you are not. The best method of play to use for any given ballista won't be known until you see how many participants you have, a 3 or 5 man ballista battle tactic is drastically different than a 20 man ballista. The larger the ballista, the less chance for head to head match ups and the more likely to get aga'd to death. I made my reputation by winning against all odds. No one gives much props for a 1 on 1 fight anymore. I would get kudos for like, fighting 3 WARs at one time fighting for a score or defending the Rook and take them all down. One shotting BLMs with an attack round is pretty helpful, and hilarious. But, as many 1 on 1s as I have won, I don't really take credit for them, and that is not where my reputation in ballista came from. Now sure everyone knew I could whip some butt one on one, but that wasn't the only thing, I fought, but I played the game to win too. It was kind of like being a skilled killer and a skilled ballista tactician I guess lol

Paladin are a terrible measuring stick for ballista, at one point, I had a friend that wanted to fight me, so we went at it. He had a revitalizer, used Invincible and all his other buffs twice while I only used focus and dodge and still killed him with more than 65% HP. Theif, well, I'm sorry you lost to a thief, they shouldn't pose much of a problem if you have H2H merits on your MNK. But yeah, if he has evasion merits and you got none for your weapon, it'll be whiff central. I've beat good RDMs, BLUs NINs, there is nothing in the game I haven't taken down at one point or another. But, in all fairness, I have been beaten by 2 RDMs and 1 BLU I know, anything can happen.

Now you can think that doesn't require any knowledge of the game that's not anything blah blah blah. But, just for a small example, just by when I choose to use a chi blast can make a huge difference in the outcome by when I choose to inhibit my opponets TP with my Chi Blast. There are lots and lots of mechanics that go into ballista, and no 2 situations are alike very often, so, to anyone that says it doesn't take much to be good at ballista, I ask you then, what makes the cream rise to the top? Why are the same people always the top scorerers? Because thought and strategy DO play a large part. Or Gil if you're playing royale hahaha

You missread my post, I was playing PLD, and I killed a MNK. I was playing PLD with no subjob at that. Which is why I didn't see the appeal... it was too easy.
And then I fought a THF on my PLD. And swung at air until he bloody bolted me to death. Which again was no fun. And to make it more funny, after that, the THF and the MNK fought, and the MNK basically countered the THF to death. One on one just seemed so pointless.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I think Ballista is kind of a lame guage as to a FFXI players skill. Unless of course you're talking about ballista skill specifically, in which case I suppose it is an awesome guage!

And Bav, you saying ballista is a lame way to gauge skill is like saying everything else is too. You may as well say, you have to be good at this and be good at it this way only. You may be desperate to deminish the skill or thought process it requires to be dominating at nation ballista but, it's like me saying, just cause you are good fighting Kirin it doesn't matter I bet you suck in EXP parties. I mean, most times, if a person is logical enough to be good at one aspect of the game, they can usually transend it. As far as your PLD, I don't know who you solo'd, but they should give up. Try to remember, ballista isn't a bunch of 1 on 1 fights that you may do for fun in the Diorama, nation ballista requires a defensive position at times guarding the rook.. it's a very strategic game if you know what you are doing, and no offense, but you obviously don't. I don't see why you would want to argue with me over if ballista can be a tell tell skill of talent or not when you are basically still wet behind your ears, and if the 2 1 on 1s is ALL you have period, well it's kind of sad you think that makes you all knowing after 2 fights.
