Ok here is the deal i just learned from a rep. today. Apparently SE does not tell the call center reps all the info they need at first ( more SE being lol) sometimes i feel sorry for these guys because they are trying to help people when SE has not giving them all the tools yet.

SE really needs some pre-release time in preping for launch like actually telling the call center reps all the info they need to know, have the token being shipped out and arivie at your house before the actual update and so forth.

what i learned however that "lolala poster and the GM" is BS info, you need to get the "physical token" ( exact rep words) before you can use mog snashal but once you link it you can delink it and still use the snashal. it also seems not only do you use your old PW ( i have complex Pws btw) you also need to use that number by the token to log in and you can choose to use it or not in your POL settings. I was worried they would relay soly on that 6 digit number to log in ( not very many combos for that and what worried me the most)

with pol token to get hacked:

the haker needs to know:

your POL ID
your POL password
your SE acct name
your SE acct password
your random 6 digit password if you choose to use that

very very hard to get past this......

i was scared at first they where gonna soly relay on that random password, i like this idea now, i like it a lot. like i said before SE needed some pre release on this not throw it at us and call center reps 1 day and not even give out all the info on that day

SE has already updated the official website with all of the information you just posted. Like I said, learn 2 read.

You are not fail, I hit the same problem. Here is what I did to solve the issue.

At the playonline screen, enter your member password to unlock the 2nd round which has your playonline password (if set) ready for you to press OK to continue. Before you press OK go to Settings and make sure, if you have already linked your SEA to the playonline ID to enter your SE account name, but make sure that the "One time password" is not set to be used. This should then change the option where you must now input the SEA password rather than the usual playonline password.

Press Connect for success.

You fail aswell. You should actually read the information provided before rushing to link your account to try and get access to a satchel which isn't obtainable until the token arrives. For all you know you might not have been able to log in for the ~2 weeks it takes for the token to arrive.

The main reason for some to activate this system was either to jump on the Satchel bandwagon, or merely activate the security system, though far too early for adequate implementation. Much of us already know the impracticality of this approach, putting the cart before the horse, if the system isn't ready then the person should not implement the measure. Nevertheless, SE already has implemented this system, two weeks prematurely, and it is likely that several people have already activated this system and are now stuck due to the new security system's countermeasures. My post was simply to help those who found themselves in this situation. I know that I was not well versed in all the technical directions, but for those who could not pull themselves out of the situation, my advice is far better than substance-void criticism.

There is no need to try this out before you get your token, but there are steps to resume normal play if you have already activated the system.

Is anyone else bugged by the battery clause?

QUOTE
3. If your Security Token runs out of batteries, it will no longer be able to obtain a one-time password, therefore, you will be unable to log-in using your Security Token. If your Security Token shows low batteries please disable your Security Token registration or obtain a new Security Token. Please see here to check the batteries of your Security Token: http://account.square-enix.com/manual/en/about.html In the event that the Security Token runs out of batteries please contact the Information Center to disable your Security Token.

You CANNOT replace the battery. You HAVE to get another one for 10 bucks if what you were really buying it for is the security. If you did try to take out the battery, the programming goes poof. I'm not sure this is the zomg wonder of man and technology security device people were thinking it was, comparing it to government devices and all. Personally, I don't think I really need it as a security device, but this is annoying. Apparently they will replace it within 3 months of it goes bad for any reason, but otherwise, you're on your own. Lol. So funny.

Hey not 100% sure if this will help your specific problem, but just to add (from my own experience)...

Back when the floating keyboard was added for security, I changed my POL password but did NOT change it in the "saved" section of the Settings. So, (and this is what led me to this site looking for answers laugh.gif ) when I added the Square-Enix account name in and logged in with that password, it was trying to use my "dummy" password that I had saved in POL. Once I updated that "dummy" password to match my actual POL password, everything was dandy.

Hope that made sense, at least a little bit!

I am having a very strange problem. I successfully made a SEA and linked my POL ID to it. However, when I go to input my SEA info into the POL ID settings page, there is no place to enter it. The headings on the bars read correctly, but there is simply no place to input the information.

I can log into POL just fine, but my Friend List cannot be accessed and I can't log on to FFXI. I checked many times that I have the lastest version of POL, all my passwords are correct, and I can't seem to find any info about this same problem anywhere else. Any ideas?

It doesn't look up to date though. You're missing the Square-Enix account fields. Try calling customer support?

SE conversions to eruos fails ><

9.99 ER/ 7.99 pound/ 9.99 US

they make the most of people playing in euros

9.99 ER = $13.12
7.99 pound = $11.72
yen 980 =$9.80

* next line of numbers uses yahoo convert for ease so numbers are a bit different from top*
if you take yen to other currnes directly:
980 yen=6.66 pound
980 yen =7.42 euros
980 yen=$9.76

so if SE wanted to round a bit:

6.99 pounds, 7.99 euros.

SE is gaining the most money from people paying in eruos

profit margen would be.
$.23 = 23 yen
1.33 pound =195.6 yen
2.57 ER= 338.98 yen

I get this but why the big differences in currency?

23/980=2% ( US dollar is hardly worth noting its only 23 pennies)
paying in pounds is a 20% increase 195.6 /980 =.1995
338.98/980 =.3458 or 35% increase...

saying we make you pay 2% more vs 35% more is a big difference....

why target the eruo like that? like i said before i can understand if they did small differences like 6.99 pound and 7.99 eruo I would not be typing this because small difference like that is rounding but not 35%......

I doubt it was intentional, either it was them just picking random numbers or they actually did the exchange and set the prices previously. It would be hard to make a "fair" price across the board when exchange rates change daily anyhow.

Thanks to the OP for this guide, it made things so much easier to set this up and i got mine in the mail and have a shiny new Mog Satchel now, whoohoo!

they had some reasonable conversions for server transfer,

it does not matter if they chage day by day making something cost the same in USD and in eruos is just plain stupid. like i said if the prices where 6.99/ 7.99/9.99 even though they still proft a bit form the exanage rates of those it is a lot more reasonable and closer to the yen price.

ether they did pick random numbers or they are trying to abuse the extange rates of erous ( even though it should be 6.99 pound not 7.99 it is way more reasonable then what it is in erous)

with your logic, why is USD soo close to the yen exchange rate but not pound and euros?

Having an issue someone may have run across, maybe not.
I created a square enix account and linked it to my POL account. logged in, worked fine, activated satchel. Not wanting to bother with either the one time password or entering my Square enix account ID/pw each time i log on to my square account, I cancel the square enix account. Now its giving me incorrect enix account name/pw errors each time I try and log in. I guess when I cancelled the account it kept the link. Anyone come across this before, or am I one of the lucky ones that gets to talk to customer support?

adding mine today, just a few points that arent addressed, or arent addressed here or through squeenix in any useful way that helped me out.

when you have your security token in hand and are following squeenix's crappy instructions,
to get your mog sachel you must;
-link your playonline id to your new squeenix account
-activate your security token under 'security expansion' (requires a one-time code from the token)

when you have the inevitable headscratching few moments of trouble logging in with all the new BS security,
you must alter your login settings;
-put in your playonline pass and 'save' (because you cant do the rest of the steps without doing that)
-put your shiny new squeenix ID in the field that asks for it.
-and you must set the one time code as 'use'
(there is no option under your squeenix account setup to not use this code once you are registering the token)
your login is now your squeenix passcode, bypassing playonline passcode (which is now 'saved')
and the generated one-time code

once you have this in, if you dont want to use the security token, the 'do not use button' does not work
you have to actually remove it from your squeenix account.
doing this voids your tokens registration # and if you want to use a token again, you have to buy a new one...
but, you get to keep your mog sachel
and you of course have to edit your login settings back to 'do not use' one time code. leave your squeenix account id.
your login remains your squeenix passcode.

squeenix help and various searches turn up nothing on if you can keep your mog sachel if you also kill your squeenix account, but POL has multiple notices saying that if you delete it, you cannot obtain a new account.
there may be some way around that, but no idea if you could link the same playonline ID.

.........
Bew, please post what support tells you, I am curious about removing the extra passwords a squeenix account requires.

bump

Ordered my token on April 9th. Still hasn't arrived yet. I called SE 4 times since then. First time they told me to wait a couple more days then call them back. So I did. The next time they told me to wait some more, which I did (over a month).

The next time they took down my phone number and e-mail and told me they would check with the shipping department and contact me once they have more information. Waited 2 weeks and no reply. I called them again and this time they said that I just have to wait until they decide to contact me and didn't provide me with a time frame. The representative was really unfriendly and pretty much told me to never call them about this again. I asked her what I should do if I still don't receive any word a month after this call and she said she can't do anything, but she said it with a "fuck you" tone of voice...

Was wondering if anyone else hasn't gotten their tokens or if I'm the only one putting up with their bs.

I'm pretty sure you're not the only one dealing with this. I remember reading, though I cannot remember which thread, of someone in Europe still waiting for his/her token.
You can also try filing a consumer report. You spent ten dollars on an item that was supposed to be delivered in two weeks and it has been a little more than a month? You called their call center several times and got no information about it. :E This is just my suggestion.
I dont know if they have such a thing as a "Consumer Report" outside the US. :x But you can look into it if you live outside the US.
