As the topic title says, i was wondering if there is a formula to work out how much to sell Tier 1 items. i could just see what prices would stick and sell, but this could take a lot of days and money (taxes ; ;). thank you in advanced.

Check the AH history of said items and base your price on those? <.< I don't see how that would take days and money, just go to www.ffxiah.com and check that out.
There is no formula to determine the price, only cost of the base materials, supply and demand.

the problem is the nq is popular, where a few sell everyday, but the hq rarely sells. i guess i'll put a few prices up and see if anyone bites.

if you put various prices you might as well just put the lowest only ...
just bazaar your shit if you can't afford AH tax

If you're able to HQ0 and HQ1 shit, tax should not be an issue.

You can figure out the minimum you need to sell something for by taking into account cost of materials, price of nq, hq rate, and failure rate.

typically a tier 1 HQ price is average of base cost to make item x 10
At least on my server, you can milk tier 1's though if no one else is making said item, people will bleed out of theit dick for a HQ sometimes.
Other crafters if it's a popular item will jump your game though and drive price back down to base cost x 10 though (it's what japs do on my server) unless you get lucky, it's a pretty common standard for a tier 1 item... unless you jumped on something no one else is making that sells decently. Rare Tier 1 items, like for me triumph earring or communion earring +1, those are a pain in the ass to sell for value.
