This idea spawned from a refreshing argument I had with pathwriter back on the THF forums. I'm sure I'm not the only person on these forums that enjoys arguing sometimes. I figure why not create a thread dedicated to just that. This thread is intended for anyone to pick a fight with anyone else.

The rules:

1: Any grounds are open game. You can argue about anything you desire. If someone posts and sincerely asks for some topic to cease, however, Please respect the person enough and change topics.

2: Keep in mind that nothing said within this thread is personal. Everything is merely for the fun of the argument. If you read something in this thread and take it personally, shame on you. Develop a sense of humor and join in the game.

3: Any argument is welcome. This means whether the argument is well thought out or pulled outta your anus, it's ok to vomit it into the thread. Let's face it, poorly put together arguments just make it all the more fun.

4: Spread the word. Get as many people as possible to join the fun. :-p

I don't necessarily mean flaming. Just plain arguing. Flaming is more about derogatory comments. Arguing is about counter points.

I don't understand why everyone thinks "Argument" means that someone must be angry or derogatory. To argue simply means to disagree.

Flame according to Dictionary.com:

13. Computer Slang. to send an angry, critical, or disparaging electronic message.
16. Computer Slang. to insult or criticize angrily in an electronic message.


Argue according to the same source:

1. to present reasons for or against a thing: He argued in favor of capital punishment.
2. to contend in oral disagreement; dispute: The Senator argued with the President about the new tax bill.

3. to state the reasons for or against: The lawyers argued the case.
4. to maintain in reasoning: to argue that the news report must be wrong.
5. to persuade, drive, etc., by reasoning: to argue someone out of a plan.

I posted only the definitions of Flame that apply, but I posted every definition listed for Argue. They are in no way synonymous.

Thus the wonders of a free society. If it doesn't interest you, there's nothing forcing you to read or post in it. Some people, however, actually enjoy a good argument. Especially when both sides are well prepared, it can be quite fun for some.
