Dropping Knowledge: Money Making Tip for 75CORs

Well, since I'm quitting the game for good this time, I don't have to worry about anyone on Hades getting ideas and giving me competition. This general concept isn't groundbreaking by any means, and people sell rare/ex items all the time, but I just thought I'd share my gil making methods to those who just happened to not consider it or who didn't know how profitable it can actually be.

This started when I was unlocking Leaden Salute with my THF friend and LSmate Kenwood, who was trying to unlock Mandalic Stab. We decided to farm Ghrah M Chips to get ourselves some torques, but we decided that given the standard torque prices that most sea LSes offered (4 million and upwards), gil was more appealing. Since then, we've made about 20 million each (plus getting 4 torques for LSmates) from about 2-3 months of casually farming and popping Forts whenever we felt like it - it was virtually effortless and consumed very little time. I'm sure that if we weren't as lazy, we could have made at least triple that amount. The key to this is minimizing your group to the minimum you need: a job that can solo Fort, and TH. This basically maximizes your profit and utilizes all of your resources.

Now, how you go about doing this is fairly straightforward, but again, I'm sure there are people who just never really thought about it much, so I'll just outline the steps.

What you will need:
- One piece of movement speed gear (preferably Hermes' Sandals or Skadi's Jambeaux if you have Denali/Nimue legs, to maximize efficiency)
- A gun
- At least one steel bullet
- Elemental damage cards
- A faithful 75THF

Preferred conditions:
- Near-optimal or optimal QD build, to speed up kills (including obis and correct cards on correct days)
- Decent melee/WS build, to speed up farming
- THF with TH4
- BLM sub (after you acquaint yourself with the mechanics)

Farming Chips:
The THF should be fairly skilled at soloing, as he should be the one tanking the Ghrahs in Hu'Xzoi, most of the time. Depending on your melee/WS builds, you may take hate at times, but it shouldn't be too bad. Get used to duoing the Ghrahs and it should be easy. A THF and a COR are the perfect complement, as the THF is well suited for tanking the Ghrahs and has TH, and the COR buffs the THF and can stun all agas with basically a 100% success rate (aside from Banishga III, which is mostly harmless anyways). I usually go COR/WHM to farm. You can choose the paths you like to farm; we often switched it up because we would get bored from doing the same paths over and over.

Popping Fort:
There are other topics already on how to solo Fort on COR, so I won't go into detail about how to do it here. I will say, however, that you can turn the THF into your little whore (like I did) and make him pop Fort and deaggro the adds if he has Trotter's/Skadi feet. Only seems fair, considering after those few minutes he can basically go AFK while you do all the work for 45+ minutes (although it's possible to do it in even less time now, after the new ACP bodies).

I suggest you go /NIN for the first pop or two, so you get used to doing the fight. You may also want to switch up the deaggro duties sometimes, in case something goes wrong (an unfortunate Gravity, perhaps) and one person dies. It's very important that both of you know how to hold Fort in case of a mishap.

After a few pops, you should be able to go /BLM for the extra damage. It takes only a bit of experience to be able to do this as COR/BLM, and not much skill. An acquaintance with the fight is basically your main asset.

Example (not perfect but it's the only vid I made =w=):

NOTE: If you spot an Ix'DRK group in your path, make sure you talk to them and ask them to not claim JoFort, as it may be white when it passes them. Obviously, they can still be dicks and steal it anyways, but it's unlikely, as they most likely won't be prepared to kill JoFort, anyways.

The Sale:
If you're unaccustomed to selling r/e items, then fear not. All it takes is a simple /sh (|Fortitude Torque|) (|Fortitude Axe|) (|Do you need it?|). I suggest you research the selling price of Fortitude Torque on your server for various endgame LSes, and don't undercut too much. You will be able to fetch a high price on the torques for two main reasons:

1) Many sea LSes do not sell Fortitude Torque, as many of their members still need it, so there is a low supply.
2) Many BLUs and WARs find themselves in dire need of the torque, and there are often long lines, so there is a high demand.

The standard tier 1 torque price on Hades was usually around 4M, but eventually our price went to 4.5M, and we had a good number of buyers at that price. Yes, you will lose a lot of potential buyers this way, but there will still be plenty of people willing to pay 4-4.5M, and you most likely won't be able to supply torques for both the high bidders and the poor people unless you farm extensively, anyways.

As always, make sure you don't pass the torque until AFTER you get the gil. We usually gave away the axes since no one really wanted to pay gil for them. The virtues can either be used for JoJ popsets (for personal use or LS use/point trade-in) or sold, of course (usually 100-150k for us). Often times we would sell the virtues and shout to buy chips, and the virtue would basically cover the costs completely, eliminating the need for farming.

Again, this isn't a mindblowing idea, and this isn't hard or time-consuming at all. For a COR, I believe this to be one of the best ways to make gil, especially since COR is by far the easiest (but perhaps the most boring) job to solo JoFort with. Given how little time this takes, you can easily use this as a gil maker while doing whatever else you do to make gil on your free time. Just be sure to keep it on the DL, to reduce your chances of competition. We were lucky, in that regard.
