Since there's not much Campaign battle areas providing 70+ charmable pets, I was always sticking to Passhow's slugs, Meriphataud's Lynx/raptors, and Jugner's tigers/ladybug
But now, we can be teleported to Crawler's Nest from any city, and I decided to give a try. And it's wonderful. 69/71 Electrumcaps and 72/74 Domm Scorpions do wonders, and with our scan, we can spot the imps when they repop far from the main battle; soloing 5 imps and buffing few NPC rewards me between 2.2k to 3.5k with little effort.
Of course, if the Bastokans aren't here, you can't even go find a new pet before being stomped to death by a gang of Qadav.
You shall give a try!

You're always free to charm a pet before getting the tag.
In beast owned Crawlers, before the fortification nerf, I used to grab a sapling, send it to attack a door and then walk all the way to the C.A. for a tag w/out aggro.
In Sauro, I'd run out and grab a raptor. He may be weak, but he really racks up on the xp for every landed hit.
Meriph, I head south and grab a dragonfly or a little east and pick up a solitary treant sapling (not to be confused with the wandering saplings).
Grauberg, I move north past a few quadavs and pick up a shroom.
Rolanberry, there's a few shrooms north of the outpost, but if you're daring, there are slugs at the small lake down the eastern valley (expect to run past Gobbue, Goblins, and Skeletons on the way).
Battalia Downs, there's a few tigers past that huge wall, west of the outpost. The gate is NW.
Vunkerl, the crabs and fish are an obvious and effective choice. More daring would be to grab a tiger north-east past the big bridge.

Bumping for the younglings:
It's possible to solo imps in Meriphataud with Dragonflies. Weakened, I had a Dragonfly (56-61 i guess) to attack an Imp, and she had him to 30-ish % of his HP.
I'd love to have high pets near every Fortification. Except for Pashhow, you always have to run 5-10 mins before finding a 70+pet, when there are some.

I opted to take up BST again so that the ACP and MKD equipment can benefit my pup and my bst.
(Just a word to those campaigning not quite yet 75) Naturally I firstly preferred campaigning to soloing, and found that at around 67, I could very easily solo several imps with just a jug pet. Sometimes I would use CC or cap65 jug I had for level sync parties.
For charming, I find crabs then pugils in Vunkerl [S], tigers in Jugner [S], and flies (and soon slugs) in Passhow [S] are my best bets for campaigning pre-70. Those pets don't have much atk/acc difficulty with the campaign mobs, and are local to the respective fortifications.
Recently starting soloing in Bhaflau though... much quicker exp =x

You don't really need a 70+ pet. All the minions are in the 60s range and charmed monsters have enough accuracy to attack with more reliability.
If anything, you can still throw pets at suicide missions towards the enemy fortification; park them in front of an oncoming wave; or sit it next to an AoE crazy NM. The damage they receive/give is added to your calculation total.
Also, since the fortification nerf, if you talk to an npc while your pet is /staying or /fighting, it will stop whatever it's doing and run back to you.

Passhow has to be the best, i was soloing the Wrath of Gu'dha spamming nm, its LOADED with pets
however you have the ability to stop mobs from casting spells too, should your pet have hate, as long as you use leave before they get it off. i stopped breakga many times by doing this.

I can agree that most campaign mobs are level 65 - 67 because when I was doing campaign battle as THF/DNC I always used a chicken knife which flee latent effect kicked in a lot before those lvls.
As soon as I dinged 67+ I wasn't getting flee kicking in as much as it was before that level.
(Chicken knife latent effect kicks in when you are fighting a mob higher then yourself.)
This is not exactly a BST related topic but I guess I wanted to just prove that you can get pets that maybe EP to you and can still do decent dmg in campaign.
The only problem that can happen at times while looking for a local pet is that the battle maybe over before you've had a chance to engage anything.
The same thing can happen when you pop a carrie right after you get a tag and the battle ends, making BST a pretty expensive job to level in campaign.

Goldengreg,
Thank you for sharing this! I'm a newly ding'd BST70 and had only participated in Campaign at Jugner, feeling we BST's got the short end of the campaign stick. I'm very glad to know there are quite a few more options available.

Campaign is a good supplement for some annoying levels but don't rely on it alone to level BST because it just isn't practical as you probably already know.
My brother mostly sticks to zones like Pashhow on his BST (charming slug pets) and a few other places that are mentioned in this thread which are fantastic for BST but if you don't want to cough up and use jug pets for other zones, you are going to be pretty much stuck if there is no battle activity in them.
Unless of course you choose not to use call beast and just melee along side some other person who may be tanking at the time.
If there's no one else to tank for you in the zone, no jug pets and no suitable local pets and around then you are going to be pretty much stuck because you can't do anything.
You hit lvl 70 now (congrats to you!) and if you are able to snatch a few hours at that all important Colibri camp at Bhaflau Thickets (G-8) pond then those levels will fly by much faster then snagging a few hours of campaign on BST.
Although if you need to do campaign for fear of losing your medal and have no other job then I guess you have very little choice.
So yeah, BST do have the short end of the stick as far as campaign is concerned because of how the exp is worked out.
We need a pet to tank for us or we get squished too easily so we don't get the most exp out of the battle like other jobs which are natural tanks like PLD ect because we need to take consistant damage and cure it all back..
Sorry about the long post, I just can't stop when I get in to this kind of stuff!
