Ok... this may have or haven’t be asked, i searched on KI but "IM" personally unable to find the tread. i was told that after you hit 60 with any craft points you gain beyond that is deducted from a set number of craft points you have to spend which is 40, so my question is:
1) is this true?
&
2) how am i able to distribute these points after i already hit 100 in a craft? do i have to reset it back to 60 (by signing up with another guild)? or can i just craft something that will skill me up past 60 and it will automatically deduct points from my already 100 craft?
the reason why i ask is because im currently a lv 100 bonecrafter and i wanted to take leather to 70, i have been crafting hard leather ring's which is a lv 62 cap, i have crafted over 40 of them and have not seen not one .01 skill up. which brings be to my next question:
3) if i don’t have to change guilds in order to craft past 60 with an already 100 craft... is skill up's harder/longer to achieve?
40 Master Craft Points? Second Craft Over 60, How to?

This question has been answered nothing short of a hundred times, and claiming that you couldn't find an answer in here means you're unable to do a simple search on here (which I don't believe) or you couldn't be bothered.
The fact you are 100 leather and you don't know this says to me that you've bought your account, so unfortunately, I won't be answering your question today.

Mistake Number 1:
Dont you curse Xurion...
Mistake Number 2:
Dont you EVER curse xurion
I find it ironic when some dumbass shows up on the forums, asks a retarded question, gets an answer he/she deserves and then gets all defensive haha
Gotta love KI
I apologize on Xur's side for wasting 15 seconds of your alleged priceless time.
Unless you take hrs to read 3 sentences which is not surprising these days really.

I don't want to repeat myself, but how the fuck someone levels a craft to 100 (which as you wouldn't know, it a major job to fulfill) and doesn't know this even when they reach 60 should just quit. Even the fucking guild master who you speak to in order to do you level 60 cap test for tells you about this. This is the main reason why I am at such a hurry to not help you.

I can't believe people can be such pricks on these forums & jump to conclusions with their responses. Just because someone doesn't know everything in a specific field in FFXI doesn't automatically make them account buyers.
1) Yes it's true with Fishing as an exception. You can take fishing to 100 without any of those 60 points being touched. Any other craft above 60 will take away your "Master Points."
2) If you've already hit a 100 craft, you can't level another (besides fishing) past 60 without lowering your bonecrafting skill for each skill you level the other craft. I'm not sure if you have to do anything special besides turning in the test item to advance past 60 but again be aware you forfeit your levels in bonecraft if you take another craft past 60. The best thing to do if you want another 100 craft is level it on a mule. You'd have to level all the subs again but its better than losing the hard work you spent to get 100 =P
3) Skill ups should remain the same as if it was your first craft past level 60 if you decide to De-lvl your bonecraft

One more time for the vision impaired: If you can level something as painstakingly long-winded as a craft to 100, and not know something as simple as this as a result, you're either an idiot, or there is another factor.
I decided to take note of what certain NPCs told me whilst leveling up my craft. You have to be pretty devoted and be able to research to cap it at 100. If I am a prick for reacting the way I did, so be it. I can't fucking stand people who take short cuts to things that, like people such as myself, have worked hard to achieve.
I'd rather not put myself in the same boat as them and assist their obvious and blaintant lack of common sense, not to mention the people who side with, and defend them.
Good day.

Theres a difference between knowing everything about something and knowing the basic information.
This is like some THF 75 comes on THF forums and asks if he is supposed to Sneak Attack the mob from front or back....

Just wanted to point out, craft from 60 to 100 isn't as ridiculously hard as you make it out to be. It took some chick in my LS about a week of crafting to get 92.2 cooking from 40 starting skill. She probably threw a decent chunk of gil at it considering was offering to pay me a premium on Kelp because there was none on AH and none in guilds, but it's really not all that hard.

cooking takes a lot less gil to level than something like bone.

I've always classed cooking as a kiddie's craft. It's so cheap to level, I'm not supprised it only took a week to get from 60 to 92.
Taking somebody else's experience in lolcooking and posting here telling real crafters it's not at tough as they say, is a bad move.
In fact, I must have woke up on the right side of the bed; I have been awfully nice in this post. I'm on my way to work right now. I'm sure my attitude will change when I get there. We'll see.

Ah. So we've established that if you throw enough money into a craft, you can get it from 60 to 100 quite easily.
So how does that have anything to do with researching, studying, and learning a craft? Sure, they smart ones will use a craft and it's skills to make money in the most profitable manner, hence most crafters not wanting to dedicate time die out quickly. But we can go ahead and state that anyone with a good bit of pocket change to burn can get a craft up to 100.

Indeed, it's a bad idea to assume anyone's experiences. Oh, by the by, Boneworking at 90. I have considered it one of the cheaper ones as well, nothing compared to say Smithing or Goldsmithing. Hasn't been terribly expensive or time consuming on my way up, either. I have the glasses, but the body I still haven't gotten - I've considered changing my craft to Woodworking because I just got my Lu Shang's, even though it would be a profit loss with the sheer amount of Woodworkers on my server.

If you join WW I guess we can form a NQ crafter's guild.
Actually I'm not just an NQ crafter, I'm also a break-anything-I'm-trying-to-sign crafter. Seriously, I've only tried to sign like 3 or 4 items before and I broke them and lost everything.

It's odd because I always expected WW to be a cash cow with the sheer amount of consumables and constant revenue from it (rather than durable goods in smithing and goldsmithing, which can be constantly resold).
From the three WW 100+'s in my shell, they are all going "DON'T DO IT. NOT EVEN FOR LU SHANGS. IT'S NOT WORTH IT.", etc.

The problem is thus: All the consumables are now either difficult to sell (Because of fewer RNGs) or they are so low level that people with subcrafts HQ it just as often and flood the market to hell's asshole.
More importantly, it's not any different from farming. To clarify, it's not that's it doesn't net any profit, its more of the question of "why bother" when I farm way more gil doing other things? You'd think that taking the many hours and millions of gil to cap a craft should result in more than having a 1% chance of HQing something for a couple mil. The space and time investment into it can be spent doing your daily ISNM, ANNM, Salvage runs for Alexandrite, etc. There's so much "daily" stuff in the game to do now that nets plenty of gil that I don't see myself crafting often, if ever. It's nice to have options though. For me I guess you can see it as more of a "how many hours a day do I play" kind of problem.
Let's not even mention Thalassos/many other polearms which require both Gold and Smithing at 60 to be worth a damn. These are generally huge profits but they either sell very slow or you risk high price breaks.
I'm not a risk taker- it's not much my style, because I don't have much base gil to throw around to do that with. If that's what you like, you can try.

Ya totally. Even if you don't know what you're doing, as long as you can select your crystal, synth the correct materials and do your rank test item every 10 levels, getting 100 is easy, especially if money is not an object.

That's a tough one yeah. I'm leveling fishing up atm. If I were you I'd seriously think about the Ebisu. Bitch of a quest I know but it would eventually save you time.

Either they don't want any more competition, or they don't know how to wokr the market.
