I'm not as blunt as Path, so I'll try helping you out. First off, Vermy cloak is a VERY good investment. It seals the deal that you'll get a Noble's (sell it when you hit 68) and various blessed gear. The refresh effect may not seem appealing because it's +1 mp, but let's factor in other bonuses.

1 tick = 3 seconds irl.

Vermy cloak = 20 extra mp every one minute. (1mp/tick)
Vermy cloak + Sanction = 40 mp (2mp/tick)
Vermy cloak + Sanction + RDM Refresh or Ballads = 100mp (5mp/tick)

As you can see, at the start, if you add in small amounts of mp/tick you don't get high results. But as soon as you start to add in other important refreshes (that you should be getting anyways) the Vermy cloak starts to shine. Adding that on to your /sch sub, you're conserving mp at a tremendous weight, and that only increases your versatility. Alex, there are some pieces that a whm can easily skip over (serket ring comes to mind) while leveling, and Vcloak is NOT one to etch out of your to-do list.

best fucking post in the thread. thanks for setting me straight, sorry for being a bitch path.. i hate feeling attacked ._. i'm brand new to all of this.

You're welcome^^, and you do have to work for it! Farming is just as important as anything else in the game, and managing your money is going to get harder and harder once you hit 65+. Just remember that there's a plethora of options in obtaining gil, so if one method is starting to lack... create a new one. Feel free to contact me on wester1998 (AIM) or AkashiXI@hotmail.com (MSN) if you have anymore questions smile.gif.

Someone find me an "It's a tarp" image macro.

For what it's worth, I probably wouldn't get a Vermillion Cloak for Scholar (I did for White Mage). It's just the way you present yourself. I'm told that you're male, so grow a pair and learn to swing them. You seem to actually be serious about healing, which is rare enough, so just gain the necessary attitude and, if you lack it, skill to shut people up. Whining about competition at this point is foolish, almost everyone you run into will have at least two level 75 jobs. I detest XPing and I have three of them.

Currently on my server noble's goes for 250k and Vcloak is almost double that.
I personally skipped vcloak.
Its nice to have, but I think its dumb to stop leveling to farm when there is a better CHEAPER piece coming up in a few levels.

Since you can sell coins, some people actually use leveling as their source of income.
10k xp gets you 10k gil from selling an imp gold piece.
Leveling 59-68 would get you ~200k if you keep sanction up.

I must admit that when I was leveling WHM I could not come close to affording a Vermy cloak back then, it was so many millions on Odin. I was always jealous of the mages who had them which honestly was not too many due to the pricing. I did however learn to be a master of MP conservation and used cookies and drinks since I was a cooking crafter. It got me through just fine and saved me from that expense. I do agree completely though that now with it being affordable, everyone should try and own one as it is a great piece of gear.

there where less noobs back then then there is now, because good pts depended on everyone to do well. with ATU you can have a leech or 2 and still do well.

I seen RMT make a pt and leech it now a days because people stay with them because they are lead.

the average whm that went though kuffel / LoO back in day is better then average WHM today.

most people want to be lazy as possible to skate by, back then it usually did not get you far, now it can.

dying this only shows ingerance to "average" weather if you where exposed to these people or not is a different question

Bullshit.

I think you need to pay attn to your so surroundings more.

I went though past with BLM , RDM ,WHM ( kind of limited but enough) , and BLU ( i power leveld though it fast enough where people still did LoO and vally of sorrows before ATU areas became the norm, not kuffel though)

I had several PTs brake after a mob or 2 when there the reason was one or two shit players.

people did not tollarate shit back then, now people are more accepting of it.

you may not know what the "average" player is like that is the only guess i have that makes you say that

just because you are one of the few does not mean everyone is like that

No, I ran into shitty players all the time. It was in the late 50s when I figured out, "Shit, I have to work my ass off" because the Red Mage in my party absolutely refused to Refresh me or, indeed, do motherfucking anything.

I'm calling bullshit on a.) the claim that there were no noobs back in the day and b.) that today's White Magi are somehow inferior to yesterdays. I play with a lot of yesterday's White Magi. They're nice people, but they suck compared to me. There are other White Magi who kick my ass, some of them who only leveled it post Aht Urhgan, some who've been playing it since launch. It's not a matter of when you leveled, it's a matter of whether you are good or whether you are not.

proved my point.

I did not say there where no noobs, there where and they got EXP a hell lot slower then others if they where the consistent cause of an extremely slower exp rate or the cause of braking pts cuz they where shitty.

with slower exp rate, harder mobs and bigger tnls it forced people to be less lazy.

honesly i never NEVER seen a thf pull without casting utsusemi back in the day. there where noobs back then, there are noobs now that does not change. what did change is the number and more extreme forms of it.

Unless they're pulling raptors, how did a thief lose shadows back in the day?

If you have a thief puller now, your party sucks, but still gets better xp than a leet group of yesterday.

I mean i had a thf recently in an ATU pt that never cased the f*** spell.

I do not get what you mean. not all pts have brds in them.

Path I generally like your posts but could you make them less of an ego boost for yourself? Just kinda diminishes your right facts. Modesty is a virtue, pride isn't.

Maybe they wanted to skill up evasion, lol.

My point was that you'd never know if an old school puller was keeping up their shadows because you can pull normal movement mobs without getting hit.

Nope. Loot-whoring is a sin, honesty isn't. I'm damned good at playing this video game and saying otherwise would be a lie. I don't insist people perform up to my level, though it'd sure be nice, but don't ask me to be a liar.

And, further, being good does not diminish my points in the slightest. I'm right because I'm right. Only a "sensitive" little twit who needs both barrels in his mouth worries about whether the person who is right has an ego or not.

Just because you're better than everyone doesn't mean you have to remind people of it.

I think a bigger question is has anyone asked what the best whm of them all has all his merits spent on? I mean I pray and pray and pray and Jesus just wont answer if barspell merits or regen merits how much into shell V? He is a stingy bastard and this guy I met in the south said he would answer me if I ever asked. I think it is selfish Jesus...you are very selfish for not even once posting here in the whm forums you being the ultimate in curing, healing, and raising the dead technology.
