I apologize in advance for the QQ thread, but there's this thing that kinda annoyes me about white mages.
Why do WHMs feel that enfeebling magic isn't part of their duties? I agree that in endgame the C skill might hurt a bit, but I don't see why you shouldn't try and land a stupid Paralyze and Slow during one of the countless lazy exp sessions. Or try and land Repose on a link... is that so hard? ._.
Too many WHMs feel they're just healbots and don't use the job to the fullest imo, I've even had people laugh at me when I said that the relic hands are "good for enfeebling".
Am I wrong in wanting WHMs to be more than Cure/Regen spam?
edit: it's relic hands with enfeeb. skill, not body lulz. Thanks Ellatrix D:
6 MP, too much of a burden? WHMs and enfeebling

Don't mind him, Littlebender seems to be either retarded, or a troll.
Either way, I appreciate the effort some WHM's put into the job. It really shows when you have a great WHM on your hands, and it's extremely obvious when your WHM is terrible. So just keep doing your job well, and laugh at the idiots.

Considering relic body has no beneficial stats for enfeebling, I'd be laughing at you too.
There's no point to casting debuffs on most mobs because they die so fast. I only bother to enfeeble skoffins and toss silence on mage mobs.. anything else is a waste of MP because it will be over half dead by the time you get around to it. More beneficial to cast flash than paralyze anyway.

Fixed.
If you actually need a WHM to debuff in merits I'm pretty sure you're doing it wrong. Repose is a different story because that's a unique spell specifically given to WHMs, and they have a high divine skill. First you have to specify where you're actually meriting of course, situational shit is situational, as always. I don't cast hojo/kurayami/jubaku on merit mobs because it's a monumental waste of gil to cast those things on something that's going to die so damn quickly.

Actually, Silence is extremely useful for meriting on Mamool Ja's. Nothing fucks up a chain worse than a BLM Mamool throwing out Sleepga or Thundaga.
WHM's and BLU's can be an MP sink too if not silenced.

Seeing as how you mentionned relic hands I guess you're talking about... merits?

he didnt say merit PTs only... (as for hands, that can apply to mission based fights and the like, and with /SCH that raises their skill past C)
and i agree, almost no WHM has an earth staff for landing slow (in the case of being the ONLY mage with slow in the PT, also pre-merits)
god hate when i do events where ES sleepga is needed, and or Repose, and they just dont seem to want to use it, despite every1 in the PT asking them to use it before a full wipe.

Really? Are these LS whms or just like, pickup people. Because our whms use Repose regularly, even for Tiamat hold/sleep order, our whms are ready to use it and will come /blm for claim for ES and then warp and get a more useful sub once were set up.

For merits, I don't cast enfeebles. If I'm confident in my MP, I might cast Dia, but if it's Greater Colibri, I usually prefer not to because it almost always means I have to Erase it from someone and that's far too costly for mobs that might barely last long enough for Dia to tick five times.
Leveling up, I played White Mage far more like a Red Mage, minus a Refresh cycle. The Red Magi I did party with tended to be useless for casting and landing enfeebles, but I'm certainly not going to waste more MP curing people when I can Slow/Paralyze the mob on the cheap.
In events, it depends what my group looks like and what my MP issues are. Sometimes I'll do it in Dynamis and for something like sky farming, I am quick to cast unless there's a Red Mage around doing it instead. More hectic misery like Einherjar, I won't bother, I need that MP for Cures and status cures.
Any White Mage who does not cast Repose should have his Light Staff rammed into a tiny orifice, like his left ear hole. A highly accurate Light-based sleep with a 90 second duration? There's no excuse not to use it.

dia birds, keeps you from getting slept(yadda yadda sublimation w/e), is a shitload of extra damage, and if it lands on a melee screw erasing it, just keeps him from getting slept too. What is it 2hp/tic? 1hp/tic if the get regen sanction.
Also, my enfeebling is higher than my divine on whm. No dia in exp pisses me off, pickup sucks

I can turn that one around; No flash in exp pisses me off, pickup sucks
While dia is worth it pre-merits/non birds, it is not worth casting in a merit pt unless you can sqeeuze one or two in while waiting for your haste recast. Stuff dies too fast, it's not worth it to throw around your haste/rest cycle for it.

dia 2 is ~another bard song, it is at least a 2-3k exp/hr increase. I have a shitlist of everyone I have done pickup merits with, and mages not casting dia go on that list

Boy if a bird flashed me right before I penta'd, I'd be super pissed that my whm is casting flash.

If you merit with people who are any good, that kind of increase in damage ranges from "totally useless" to "functional liability." If you're in a party that can barely hit Chain 5, Dia away, but in parties with an endless chain where the Bard is killing himself to find mobs, you're not helping enough to justify casting Dia II. If you're casting Dia I, then I'll agree with that the MP cost is too minimal to make a difference either way, but there is such a thing as doing too much damage.

Dia on Wivre/Skoffin is worthwhile. Colibri? They die almost as soon as they have been engaged.
