Has anyone proven that a Dia that hits for 0 damage still gives a DOT effect? One of the mysteries I could never find an answer to when I played.

Well meriting on whm is your first problem, using regen 3 is the second.

...because restoring 560HP for a cost of 64MP is such a problem. Darn you, efficiency. Darn you to heck.

560/64 = 8.75 HP per MP

A respectable efficiency for sure, more so than even the most efficient Cure spells. However... compare it to Regen 1 & 2:

Regen2: 380/36 = 10.56 HP per MP
Regen: 275/15 = 18.33 HP per MP

So the bottom line is this: When you cast Regen III, does your target reach max HP at any point during that time? If so, your "efficiency" is going to waste. The higher level Regen spell you use, the greater the odds that a portion of it will go to waste due to the person being at max HP for a few ticks.

This is the logic behind using a lower-level Regen than III. 64 MP is a significant cost for a spell, casting it repeatedly in battle can add up quickly. However, the lower level Regens are cheaper, more efficient, and less likely to go to waste. Personally, I use Regen & Regen II religiously, and only use Regen III in specific circumstances. Long-Armed Chariot is a great example because his charm move also inflicts a very nasty DoT effect, thus when I feel he's about ready to start Brainjacking I will start tossing out Regen III's to counteract this. Cerberus is another great example, I toss Regen III under 25% to help counter the burn from Gates of Hades if one happens to sneak through the stuns. So yes, Regen III has its uses but they are few and far between. Most of the time the best use is for countering heavy DoT's that you may not be able to remove immediately.

Posting in regards to OP: Yes, I enfeeble on WHM. Yes, I even have relic hands and a shit-ton of other enfeebling gear (but that's also because I'm a RDM...). I land my enfeebles a lot easier than most RDMs I know (which is pretty fucking sad - especially the RDM in my dynamis that got duelist hat and doesn't even fucking have capped enfeebling skill...). I do however go WHM/sch, carry HQ staves, enfeebling torque, cleric's mitts, witch sash, etc.~ Where do I enfeeble? Anytime the fucking RDMs and BLMs don't. :3 <3

Oh i see what you're saying. I wasn't saying regen3 is the only one you should use, just saying i like casting regens since they are more MP efficient

It's also because i hate being cockblocked on cures when i'm playing PLD, so i avoid doing it to them in return. If i toss a regen on a yellow HP bar and a paladin casts cure4 right after, the paladin gets most of the hate and the wasted MP is both in a smaller chunk (15/36/64 vs 46/88) and from the larger MP bar belonging to someone who may have time to rest a few tics

As WHM i will always use repose when i can for out of control Hecaeyes in dynamis etc its a god send but we get an A- skill for that spell, as for other enfeebles, ill enfeeble stuff when im doing mess around stuff skilling up WSNMs etc nothing major I just really cba going to the effort off making a proper enfeeble macro set for my whm which yeah i know its lazy but meh im a shitty lazy whm at the best of times lol.

For WHMs who care they can throw togeather a decent enfeeble set using AF1 body Spider Torque (or enfeeble torque if your flush) AF2 hands 8/8 merrits and thats your gimp skill raised to 271 (273 with enfeeble torque) already withought even thinking much about it, BLM base enfeeble skill is a joke as well (230 cap) but using proper gear can become very good at enfeebles (although obviously nowhere near the standard of a RDM etc.

Anyways... hope that wasnt off topic i can see rambling sabout regen numbers and shit in there now and i just woke up so ft .... lulz

Been a while since I partied, but when I do PT... I absolutely Repose links, I think Repose is probably the best thing the updates have brought us. I -na everyone as needed, I haste everyone if I possibly can (with a good refresh on board, either from buffs or signet/etc) or at least the tank and a couple DDs. I usually don't bother with enfeebles if we have a RDM or BLM in the party, because we end up both casting them and wasting each other's MP. If I'm solo, or the other mage isn't doing their job, I'll do it. I don't have a gear build for it, but I do it anyhow.

I never bother with enfeebles in Dynamis and Besieged/Campaign, though.

Oi yeah, we're in full agreement then smile.gif Regen is ultimate. I dunno how my MP would survive without it.
