Big Level gap - Post Journeyman

I was wondering if 10 level gap is okay. i ask because the synth is incredibly cheap, like 300 gil a synth.

The problem is that after lvl 60, the skill up rate is 25%, and if you combine that with only successful synths, the number of skill ups per round of synthing could be only 10% (i'm chucking that number out of no where).

My question is for experienced crafters... If you were facing these conditions, would you skill up on 300gil/synth.

I have no idea how to do quotes properly so if someone can tell me ^^.
Anyway below is quoting stubbieunicornserver. from

"it's honestly horrible, skilling up 10-12 levels under a cap on an item is like a 90% break rate, and you cannot gain skill on breaks that far from a cap, Ah well i guess i'll just use my own basic knowledge of crafting and FFXIAH to find more reasonable synths to finish this sub, the ones that he lists to do for 10 levels i'll just have to start a few lvls later

being so far under cap is just wasting time breaking stuff even if it's dirt cheap to attempt. Even with synth support the break rate on items so far from cap is completely horrible and id rather buy -> resell slightly more expensive synths things than waste 50gil per synth just for a break with a very small chance of success.

If you dont want to risk breaking bigger money synths then i guess spam breaks all day, but it'll take you an entire RL day to gain a few lvls off something when you break so damn much. lol

I had the same problem when trying to lvl alchemy sub by one of these guides, it took me way too long to gain a few lvls, then once i got closer to cap BAM i hit cap fast cuz less breaks, then another synth 10 lvls from cap.. taking eternity for a few lvls, honestly whoever decided 10 lvls from cap for a cheap synth was a good idea to skillup on, clearly doesn't have a 100 craft to provide money for subs lvling."

It's amazing what insights you can find if you dig around.

As a general rule, I try to keep away from any skill up recipe with a +9 point gap. But with synth support, and assuming it's your most economical recipe choice, there's no reason to just ignore them. 10 points might sound like a lot at first, but keep in mind you should be doing those synths with at least one of your GP items (+1), advanced synth support (+3), and whatever compass/day/moon voodoo you believe in (+1-3?) So when you add it all up, you're really only looking at a 4-6 point skill gap.

Get adv. support and you'll be fine. I've done it numerous times. The first level or two will be a bit breaky but after that you'll be back to normal.
