hi, i am going to be coming back to ffxi after 4 years, probably leveling up my 30 or 40ish (cant remember the exact level) samurai, also bring 2 brand new players to the game.

my question is what is the best possible server for new players right now, with highest population(not all top heavy, but spread out amongst levels)?

i greatly appreciate any help in advance, thankyou.

There is no way to easily answer your question. On all servers there is always a lack of low to mid level parties due to the end game content available. It's just luck weather you get a party or not.

Pick a server out of a hat and seek. Weekends will be a good time.

Ffxiah has probably the most accurate estimations of active players. Seraph is noted down as 12,175 active characters. Obviously you will never see this many people online, but comparing Seraph's 12,175 chars to Bahamut's 17,397 chars, you can easilly see that Seraph one third less.

Well i would have to say i dont have that many problems finding a group. I got my RNG from 17 to 55 currently in about id say, 3 weeks and thats not looking for pt every day. My wife got her pld to 61 in about 3 weeks also, of course she had more days to look for PT. i myself dont like making PTs, i just put my flag up.

the best part of this server id have to say is that there a lot of NM out there that arent even camped.

well i saw simurgh the other day wasnt killed till about 15 minutes after he popped and on another ocassion i was heading over to him to get a TOD and he was actually up with maybe 2 people near the pool, i didnt get him cause my friends werent on at the time.

Also camped ungur twice on two different days and both we killed 1 or 2 place holders and pop.

bonnacon is hardly ever camped, cure clogs NM. some other ones too but ill keep some of my secrets

The thing is, Simmy and Ungur are both camped for their rare/ex drops. People don't camp them, unless they need the rare/ex item in question.

With Bonnacon, his drop rate is between 15-20% on clogs. If we had been having this conversation one month ago I'd have used the fact that they only sell for 80k a pop. For some reason they have doubled in price since then, which will eventually mean people will cotton on to this new pricetag, and start camping again. The Tredecim Scythe that he drops sells for 50k which isn't bad, but again its about a 10%~ drap rate.

I guess if you were killing the buffalo whist waiting, it wouldn't be all bad if you didn't get drop.

But let's remember that this thread is focused around new players.

I'd say there are usually campers hunting those NMs about 25% of the time.
