Magic Accuracy affects bolts

Over several salvage runs, I have been playing around with Assassin's drinks and using them while I fight the zone bosses. I notice that the defense down effect on acid bolts procs pretty much 100% on the boss with the drink up, rather than the usual ~50% I would get when shooting.

I doubt this will be of much use to most of you, but just thought I'd throw that tidbit here because I don't remember it being mentioned elsewhere on these boards. All these tests are eyeballed, but the difference was so drastic (The drinks tend to give a huge boost though, like Spy's Drink giving 30% haste or whatever), and I've done it on several runs, so I'm pretty much convinced.

I guess it might be slightly useful if you like soloing a lot on THF, because I'd be sure that it'd affect bloody bolts as well.

9 times out of 10, you're going to be better off using Racc, I think. Not to mention, there isnt exactly a huge amount of magic acc that thf can use.

Off the top of my head, I can think of:
Denali feet - Losing 6 Racc from homam
Denali legs - Losing 10-11 Raccc from Dusk legs (+1)
ToAU ring - Losing 11 Racc from behe ring
Insect Ring - " " " "
um
Homam Head - Losing 10 Racc from Ohat

It's definatly something to bear in mind, but I dont think it can be realisitcally worked into an effective build.

I don't think he is saying to replace Range Acc with Magic Acc but to put Magic Acc in your Range macro also.

Eh, I'm not really saying to do anything, just thought I'd post it here as a tidbit of information in case any of you guys didn't know that. I'm sure some of the perfectionist thieves around here can figure out some ways of making it useful.

=O Hah, it never occurred to me to use Assassin's Drinks in that way. There are other debuffs we can do in salvage but I think usually the mages have that covered. Definitely will pick one out of the chest for the acid bolts next boss run though.

Yeah, it was just a random thing I ended up doing for every Zhayolm run I went on, because every Zhayolm run I've been on involved taking NE port to floor 2, where you'd wipe out all the lizards and the mamool (Which always drops 10x milk and 5x Assassin's or something), and I figured I'd screw around with it for fun.

Knowing that MACC affects bolts is extremely useful.

Thanks for posting this.

If you REALLY wanna test this; take THF and COR out and test acid bolts on birds with MACC roll.

well that's just plain wackyshack.

suddenly the m.acc on a few of those denali pieces makes a little more sense for thf.

If by a few you mean one, the feet, then yes.

Though I don't know that I'd use that over homam...

I can't think of too many situations besides a feinted mob where you're going to have difficulty landing bolts for the added effect but not need a significant amount of racc, though I suppose that's what every other slot besides feet is for, but I'm somewhat skeptical of +3macc having a significant effect on your rate of resists... I think the real potential is hunters/warlock's rolls against stuff that you want to land defense down on, but has a high rate of resistance to added effects, ymmv.

Kecks don't exist, fuck you.

Those didn't drop the entire time I ran nyzul, I'm boycotting their existence.

(Seriously the only people I see with those legs are people so retarded in gear choice that I can only conclude that SE made the drop rates dependent on gear)

Kecks have a very limited use for how long it takes to aquire them. It's retarded to think that anyone would go out of their way to find a pair. I guess if you're doing Nyzul for some buddies and they want goliard/askar legs and denali happen to drop you might get away with owning a pair but there are too many other options for leg piece on thief that just serve more purpose. Jesus... the time it probably takes to get a pair by actively trying you could farm enough gil to buy oily trousers.
