For me, I might try to play both, but I'll drop one if needed.

I vote for Pick up FFXIV after having quit FFXI for some time. I have enough played with old FFXI in almost seven hours and I have nothing to do until SE puts last two add-on expansion packs. (I'm getting AION for new fun.)

I already quit XI (twice), so I'll pick XIV up, hoping SE has learned from what worked and what did not in their first MMORPG and releases some damn amazing stuff.

Likely won't play it if it has monthly fees, and since I'll be in university.
Unless they really, really upped their game since XI. Aka get rid of that damn grind, exp loss penalty, needing hours to do stuff, always needing people to do stuff. Also better customer service lol.
And for the record, I picked the last option - someone come keep me company!
Haha

I honestly cant pick an option atm until I find out more Information on the new game.
I'm hoping they will have improved on every aspect on FFXI...therefore making me quit FFXI and going to the new FF MMoRPG

I just looked at some of the staff list and see that Nobuo will be doing all the music for the game, so it will at least have epic music. he only did a few songs for XI as far as I know.
I'll probably end up playing both, and trying to remind myself thats 20 or so more dollars down the drain spending life in Virtual reality than I should be lol.
Also from looking at the trailer it will be a pumped up version of XI considering that I can already see all the races, Elvaan, Mithra, Hume, Tarutaru, and Galka *Without the tail*

XI is in the past for me so its a definite on XIV. However, I hope they do have hints or even slight nods to XI's story since it was one of the things I missed when I left.
Also, I'm hoping the world is zoneless; if this is the same game from the E3 techdemo a few years ago then I'm pretty sure we'll be looking at a completely immersive beautiful world.

I'll be dropping FFXI most likely, something I've been trying to do for some time. Until it becomes obvious how the game will turn out, my content IDs will be kept alive on XI.
Who am I kidding. Even if I'm not playing I refuse to let my character go until they drag me kicking and screaming from their server rooms as they try to shut XI down. I won't necessarily be using it, but I like knowing it's there. Providing I can create a virtually identical character with the same name on XIV, it'll soften the blow somewhat.

I'll probably start with 14 and see how it is, if I like it I'll probably drop XI for it.

I'll probably still log onto XI to talk to people and do stuff until it's completely died down, but I'll probably be playing XIV a majority of the time. This new MMO intrigues me to no end, I can't wait for more info on it to come out. I just really like the idea of starting fresh in a new world and environment and not having to worry about gear competition and elitist assholes.. At least not for a while. lol

Honestly, thats going to be there from the get-go. Considering most of the "hardcore ls'" are already planning on converting over with their current members, lol.

Yeah, but they can't gloat about their lvl 15 gear when they start. lol "Zomg, mai lvl 15 harness has +1 STR and white box. Gtfo noob!!" Srsly? lol Unless they wanna talk about their lvl 81 DRK on Asura.

Galka *Without the tail*
When asked about why they know longer have tails, Galka respond, "We don't talk about it with outsiders..."

I finally unsubscribed to FFXI back in December. I may restart my account just to get into my toon, unload, give away my money to the few people I still like inside and either finally delete or give my toon over to the LS i was in.
Dont like the idea of just deleting so many rare/ex items away, really wish SE would give us the option to take the rare/ex off, or at least use the rare/ex as a cautionary tool to keep us from accidently tossing it. Oh well, here's hopeing that feature is coming.
I started playing FFXI when it first released state side. Love the new environments, starting up friendships, it was the first MMO I ever played too. I did the grind thing, wake up early, play non stop till I fell asleep, repeat that the next day and the next and the next. It also contributed to my gut blowing up after high school. ugh.
So I'm looking to play FF14 when it comes out, try it out, see if its worth investing time in. But I'm a casual player, would love to be a hardcore, play play play. I just cant, not unless I win a lottery or something lol

Since the announcement of XIV i've already altered my goals set for FFXI so that they can (hopefully) be accomplished by early 2010.
I'd likely hop over to XIV when it releases, but also keep my account on XI active as my 'final save game' so to speak..
I'd also still pop back into FFXI if they introduce new content for it, like story and stuff..

If they let us choose servers in FF14, I'd love to form a shell with some of the KI regulars from different servers. Oh the possibilities...
