I chose 'Pick up FFXIV after having quit FFXI for some time' even though i still play FFXI off and on..I pretty much quit the game...for the 3rd time, i'll most likely give my character to my father soon.
What will you do, adventurer?

I quit about a year ago and gave away my account. FF14 has some interesting concepts though so I think I'll want to try it out.

I cant wait to see all the uber sellable shit go up on the AH's for cheap cause everyone trying to liquidate their XI accounts for XIV rmt goodness.
I will play when it starts i think and check it out, but i am going hard and fast in crafting and money making right off the bat for fresh economy goodness.

Five years on one game has grown tiresome. I have a few things I'm sticking around for that I'd like to accomplish like finishing WotG missions and beating dyna-taz. I have no desire to level any new jobs or merit. And going after special armor or weapons seems like a waste of time sense I know I will quit when FFXIV comes out and I would never get a chance to really use them. At this point I'm just catching up with some console games I've been wanting to play and just logging in for a weekly dynamis and then I log in for new WotG missions.

I feel I would like to try to get 1 -> 37 White Mage and then 1 -> 75 Beastmaster before FFXIV comes out if that is possible at all.

Screw FFXIV. Screw FFXI. I'm only here because I'm lonely.
No but seriously, I will be picking up FFXIV when it launches. I didn't launch with FFXI, but god did I want to. Being at the forefront and plowing through the content with people was fun as all hell in Aion, but... it's not the game for me. It's a niche title until FFXIV. I logged back into FFXI the other day, and got a party on my 36 BLU.
...fuckers wanted to burn in Qufim, so I said lolno and logged out.
I have a new PC on the way for christmas, which I hope will let me run Aion at full blast(Aion is shitty 32 bit code and caps at 2gigs of ram... sadly). I got an awesome 40% off because of work, and it looks amazing. Which is fine and all, but I'm dropping Aion for for FFXIV. Aion is just filler.
-Intel Core i7-860 processor(8MB Cache, 2.80GHz)
-8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz-4x2GB (Would've gotten 16 gigs, but whoo boy those mega chips are expensive as hell)
-nVidia GeForce GTS240 1024MB GDDR3
-Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English (Must add GENUINE because it's legit)
All in all, I think I'm good for FFXIV and... everything else released now and within the next 10 years.(maybe longer?)

I plan on playing FFXI and FFXIV, I have been playing on XI far to long to let it go down the drain.

I'll be playing FFXIV when it comes out, Hopefully SE has done an awesome job an made it superior to that of all other MMO's. Lets face it most MMO's today are pretty much all similar in a boring WoW way

FFXI was THE game I loved when I first got it, to when I had to put it down.
It was the only game I could play for hours on end, even almost all day, and NEVER get bored of it. I play WoW for an hour and it bores me, I play aion for an hour and it bores me. FFXI was fun as all hell when there was enough people to do everything with, but over time it sort of died. The forced-grouping was amazing and I really hope to god the solo element in FFXIV cannot account for more than 30% of the game.
Even on my BST I loved helping parties(especially after the EXP buff with a pet) and really enjoyed the camaraderie of the game. Wow and Aion, you can solo everything, with every class, with little fear of dying except on elites. FFXI, I loved/hated/raged when I fought an Easy Prey Yagudo or even a Too Weak Yagudo only to get my ass handed to me.
I am really praying the solo part of FFXIV is restricted to certain classes, not all, and nearly everything after the starting zone requires a party. Please don't drop that ststem, S-E. Don't cater to casuals.

After quitting the game 4 times, I'm sitting here dying to get back and play. BUT! I wont because I know going back requires far to much time and headaches with endgame life. So I sit and pray that I get to test FFXIV, I only hope that FFXIV tries a lot harder with keeping the flame alive. After completing potions of XI it became to much trouble then it was to have fun to keep playing.

I chose "Pick up FFXIV after having quit FFXI for some time" as well..
I technically just re-subbed to XI the other day, but I've quit so many times over the past few years, that I can't really say that I'll "keep playing" it. I spent the first 4-5 years in XI without stopping once, but then I started to drift when other games came out. I keep coming back, but I've "quit" honestly 7 or 8 times at this point lol.

I'm going to play it because despite all the things I disliked about XI, I still had fun up until I leveled every job I enjoyed and everything required either camping or kissing enough ass to get into a decent static whatever group. Even with all its bullshittery, I still miss playing XI in general and Fairy circa 2003-2006 in particular, and I can't say that I didn't enjoy the excessive amount of time I spent playing that game for 6 or 7 years.
I'll probably enjoy XIV too, even if it's only because my wife and I won't make the mistake of having both our characters on the same account, but when we were "kids", the notion of having a 2nd computer and account to play XI on wasn't something we were thinking about. As such, we will probably be among the people crashing the servers and being angry at how it's taking me 10 hours just to create a character and move out of the start area on release day.
