I liked the "idea" of augments they just implemented, but it would be nice to have a similar system in this new one, too. Something along the lines of.. you find X sword, and Y item and bring them to a smith and they fuse it for you, creating custom stats. An example in this game would be like.. A lv 20 great sword and a poison potion = Poison sword (same stats, add eff: poison) or Lv 15 spear + fire ore = Flame spear (same stats, STR+4 Att+3), etc.
I liked chocobo raising from here, too, but it would also be nice if picking the colors of it would be made easier, and giving certain colors certain attributes. Example: blue chocobo's would be able to scale shallow water as if it were land, green chocobos could climb steep hills, red chocobos would be naturally faster than others, etc.
Mog whistles like they had in 9.. I'd like to be able to call my moogle wherever I am.
Also.. One thing I would love to see is the INability to zerg or manaburn everything. Maybe not put haste on gear or make more well rounded gear, too.. Gear swaps get on my nerves after a while. Gotta swap gear for this, for that.. swap gear when you WS, TP, cast, summon, breath in, breath out, blink, sweat, shit, sneeze... Moar well rounded gear or better gear set stats would be nice. If they do AF/relic in here again, they should have outstanding gear set stats on them. I'd love to be able to just carry around one set of gear for everything and not have to swap it in and out every 2 seconds.
Things you do want to see in FF14

Ya that is what i ment by the 10000 items, 100 are useful and only 10 inv spots to put them in, also try to adress that with the 10 int and 5 mab thing. having different stats that do almost the same thing in the end is down right stupid and one of the causes of having 10 different gear sets.

Enjoy FFXI... If you want to move on to FF14 when it comes out.
I've been waiting awhile for this game, ever since they showed off that tech demo in 2005 (It's pretty obvious now, how far back they had it planned)
I want the combat to be more fast paced, more involved. Unless you're a mage, the game tends to be; Swing, swing, swing miss, miss, swing, swing. <Insert random WS here>
I want to see them create a stunning world. If they can't do that, then there's no point to the game. It's what I loved out of FFXI, I expect it from this one.
Storyline better be good.

fast paced? its too fast as is, you ever been in merit pt? i dont want nothing like it.
if you mean way of 2003-2005 fighting that could be a bit slow but atu fight is way too fast for cast times
(going with Aleera here no fucking tp or mp burns, NO AHU way of fighting for exp!!!! seriously that expand ruined game)
some mobs attack way too fast to cure people, but maybe hard mobs should be? doono

I went back in time and cut their tails off, thus altering the universe.

PS2 didn't hold FFXI back, lazy programmers and a crackpot of a dev team did.
Five years from now it will probably be ps3 limitations.
Five years from now it will probably be ps3 limitations.
This, fucking this times 1000. System doesn't make the game, the gameplay makes the game. SE's dev team just rolled over and died on the game is all.
Anyway, few other thoughts I had.
1. Crafting similar w/o the use of Crystals
-When I think of this I think of Runescape where you mine ore, travel to a furnace, melt the ore into bars/ingots, then find an anvil to make equipment.
2. Assuming there's a SJ system, make SJs more effective.
-Basicly what I mean is make something like WAR/WHM not be 100% worthless, I know it'll probably fail but I did like that aspect of FF5 a lot where you could sub w/e you want and it wouldn't be gimped by half.
3. Remixes of previous FF music and being able to choose what music to listen to
-Dunno why, but sometimes I just crave old FF music and it'd be awesome to listen to it. And hearing the same battle music for over an hour gets old so variety would be nice.
4. Minigames that aren't text based.
-Blackjack, card games, etc.

People complaining about this being only on PS3 should be happy that its coming to a 400 dollar system instead of what could easily be a couple thousand dollar computer. It would be retarded for SE to limit what they can do graphically as well as gameplay wise by keeping this game on a system that is a decade old and held back its previous game from achiving all it could. I just wish it was on Xbox instead of PS3 since my PS3 is a network killer. What I wantis this:
1. A worldwide simultanous release. Giving Japanese players a year head start will be bullshit.
2. A better crafting system that allows low level players a chance to level their chosen crafts as they are leveling up their character. Farming at a low level in 11 is too daunting of a task IMO, you have to be like 50 to be able to really consistantly farm any mats you need to craft. They don't really need to change too much, just make it less diffucult to obtain ingredients for lower level recipes before level 30ish.
3. make quests worthwhile for the new player. After a while FF11 became an enviroment that almost forced new players to buy gil to be able to do anything.
4. Please don't make every HNM type mob a force pop. The nature of these types of games is that certain items just shouldn't be available to everyone. If they make every drop easily obtainable there won't be anything to do after a year. I'm not a huge fan of waiting around for 3 hours for something to pop and then missing out on it for a full 24 hours either, but its important to have mobs like this in order to keep certain items from falling into the hands of everyone with a lvl 75 job and a few friends in the game. It sounds bad, but most people play these types of games for fun first and status within the game a close second. If the ability to seperate yourself from everyone else on the server by obtaining a really nice piece of gear that not a lot of others have is lost wheres the motivation to keep playing? If you can't get said items then you just need to work harder at your jobs or level something else more useful ... thats just the way it is and i like it that way. The answer isn't always to just make everything easier.
5. More balance with the jobs.
6. An Oblivionlike or City of Heroeslike character building system.
7. The ability to put capital letters in the middle of a word when naming yourself.
8. Modes of travel that retain their usefulness throughout the entire game. More mounts
9. Someone else already said it but I too would like a map system that doesn't ask you to do crazy hard quests in order to get a map that is barely useful.
10. Please SE don't fold under the pressure and WoWize this game. Changes to the framework laid out with FF11 are needed for sure, but don't lose what made FF11 an alternative to WoW for the more advanced player. Does the party system have its limitations? Sure it does, but its also one of the games more redeeming qualities. If I want to play all by myself I can always play some Oblivion ...

I think Mythx meant fast paced in the sense of game speed (thats what I'd like to see), actions do seem to play out too slow on XI but we'll see; I imagine the battles will play out in more of an action packed way.

Id like to see the ability to Duel outside of towns, ie. I click on rambus and challange him to duel, he can accept or decline.
Id like to see cooler house functions, would be neat to have a roomate lol
Card Game in the game, *plz Triple Triad*
Gear that when put together you dont look ugly as sin. I hate having to mismatch because stats > looks.
Salary. And what I mean by this is you join faction/nation etc and once you rank up you get salary payment once a game week, ie. start of with 100g per game week then move up to 100k per game week for the top rank. But like campaign you have to do certain things to maintain that rank or you are demoted.

After looking at everything, I gotta wonder if there won't be some sort of character conversion incentive for buying the new game... I mean why keep the exact same five races? I mean, you kind of expect humes and some variation of elf but if this is a brand new game and everyone has to start from scratch, then you'd think they'd create some batshit crazy-looking new race (like the Viera from FFXII).

If you ask for more PvP content and better balanced jobs you're up for a great disappointment.. That shit ain't easy to do, so I hope they'll just keep it PvE with Ballista XIV or something

You are such an idiot. Honestly look at a few servers, specifically Garuda obtaining "HNM gear" is not hard as long as you cheat. The mobs are not difficult to kill anymore, so limiting them based on your ability to cheat is the most retarded thing I have ever heard of. The king claiming system worked, when only a select few ls's with a ton of people could do it, the longer it continues on and the mobs aren't updated to where any idiot that can claim can kill is not making someting more "rare".
Yes, gear should have some rarity to it, there should be some "e-peen" gear, but it should come from being a good player, not your ability to cheat and exploit the system, or having dumb luck on it possibly dropping. There is a multitude of ways to make gear "rare" without making the lousy claim system, a pop system benefits everyone, it allows people to experience the content in what ever way is possible, in FFXI at this time, outside of cheating your chances of experiencing said content in quite minuscule, now tell me, how is that a good system?

Great, another moron. So let me get this straight, you don't want to see PvP content just due to the fact "it ain't easy". Go away, innovation is what keeps the genre going. If you don't want to see PvP just due to the fact you don't like PvP, or something of that sort that is all fine and dandy, but not wanting to see it because it has the possibility to be bad is quite a sad thing. Its hard to deny the fact that PvP has the ability to entertain for a lot longer then PvE content, PvP can always change as players all play differently, its something that PvE just can not do. One of the main failures of FFXI is its PvE onry stance, since Ballista is a very lousy designed system.

i foresee a "NO JOB SYSTEM" as in something along the lines of (but not actually) materia, a sort of equip abilities concept.
need a tank? ok equip these abilities, and lets roll! ok this boss requires fire resists! every1 equip fire sheild!
now all DDs can be fairly balanced, and ppl will still try to make unique builds, and if PvP, make a sort of rock/papper/scissors system with what works in PvP.
but i also see SE fucking up alot.
as for gear sets, allow the ability to take stats from 1 piece, and looks of another piece (only if u have both)
and give a simple single main shade to every peice, to help make mixed sets match.
aka, red orange yellow green blue purple black white (most of these low in saturation, greyish~, except something liek AF maybe, where its brighter)
Ohat? SH? and Purple legs, Green hands, Yellow feet? np, if we make them all a single color, or at least 2 colors, should look alot more decent.
as for character looks, hair color goes a long way.
take away skill in weapons based on class or w/e they implement, so if u WANT to use a Great Sword, u can!
no rez weakness, phoenix downs!
yes i know, makes every boss insanely easier, but dont pretend in some boss fights in other FFs, being beat down, and spamming raises while trying to stay alive and keep an offense wasnt fun, cuz it was fuckin fun shit!
