Oh yeah thats another thing, gearswaps... When I played WoW, once you were engaged you couldnt gearswap so you had to pick gear before battle. In FFXI every macro I have has a different gearset so im blinking constantly, its annoying and expensive/time consuming to have all that gear on me and still be the best at what I do.

gearswap nothx

hmm now that i think about it i had that beef with 12 too, it would be nice not having to do that....

but...

what if you fight mob that does magic and melee damage? in this game you need a full build to take the phy damage ( or blink it) then anther to take the magic so you are not one shoted. Having gear changes kind of showed one's knowledge about the game and made it a bit more involving. on BLM you should reflect this by using the correct gear mixes to nuke this mob then something different for other.

how would you make no gear swap to keep things interesting like what i said?

From an inventory perspective, I'd like to see whatever you have equipped not taking up room in your inventory/bag.

do you even try play a mage job? oh cure , oh pass cell , oh rest, haste, blah blah its fucking annoying.

dont insult my group like that EVER! not getting lucky has NOTHING TO DO WITH F*** skill this is why i hate some people here even, you think you don't get gear, oh you must not be skilled.

I do like einherjar too, 30 mins not long enough though ;; most reweds are shit past of oh we can get drops from niddy and that polarm.

dyna you still need to know what your doing to be successful, PLD or anyone that voke need to find mobs that need voking off sleepers. * why i love SCH, needs AOE silence though* I like controlling large hords like that. meh maybe thats why i like pld and sch so much. I like the smart ones that obey lets stop attacking the PD mob and fight something else or nuking it to death if enough BLM or w/e change things up a bit depending who shows.

Dynamis requires very little skill at all, about the only thing you need is someone that knows a good kill order, and a good puller, the rest can be done with a very mediocore group of players. 30 mins is not long enough for Ein? Wtf...this continues to my point, I think your group just isn't very good, if you are timing out of einherjar.

You can hate me all I want, but saying you only had one piece of gear to drop in 1+ year(s) of salvage means your group is complete and utter garbage. You can go in solo every few days and get something, not necessarily what you wan't but you can get something. Of course if you enter only once in a blue moon, and do it with a terrible group you are not going to do a whole lot of anything in terms of getting drops. Go get in a better group, and see how many "useless" drops they get, sure they might not be what the group wants/needs but its still something more then "1 thing in 1 year". The fact you didn't know that most cells drop from certain mobs, shows your overwhelming lack of salvage knowledge.

Gearswapping is not the issue, its the lack of macro/inventory space. If you had a lot more inventory(however you do it) and the macro space was larger(full swap + ability on one macro) it would hardly be an issue. I like having the ability to carry around multiple sets of gear for situations(nuking hard/nuking acc/drk skill/enfeebling/ resting etc on blm) but it can get frustrating with inventory and macro space, which shouldn't be an issue in this title IMO. I hated WoW and being stuck after engaging it was complete garbage(For PvE content that is, for PvP you kind of need it).

I hope they are changing the way inventory is handled completely and it won't be a big issue.

Maybe if they made specific gear like "Tank" gear that has Phys-% and Mag -%

like mage specific gear would be Black Magic +2 White Magic +4, a healer would rather use this piece other than a nuker, but a Nuker can still use this piece and be effective, or a "red mage" can use this and benefit from both.

Or if they had a different stat system like in original final fantasys, we just have vit str dex chr etc and those base our gear stats. Tank gear would have vit on it and prevent both magic and phys damage...

idk Im getting sleepy lol

why dont we all get together and make our own game >_>d

See, this whole inventory issue comes about from having so many jobs that rely on certain sub jobs and equipment + items to pull off party tactics that must be used to succeed. I highly doubt we're going to see the return of any of these issues; to a new player all of this is daunting at first.

I'm sure that when SE first developed the idea of XI they probably assumed that one job and one sub job would be able to get what needed to be done, done. However, we all know that is not the case. It makes me think that adding in all these endgame and other events was SE's way of beta testing this game for XIV.

The issue with the above, is everyone would look exactly the same though. I mean look at it now you still see a lot of the same, and there is a lot of variety inbetween the "gear tiers" as well different types of gear(tpacc/tpatk/ws/etc/etc) if you reduce that even more, you will turn the game into a walking clone generator honestly.

Almost all good systems are "complicated" at first, within a short amount of time the "Awesomeness" and how powerful it is comes out. Removing it due to the fact its a little hard on "noobs" is quite silly. I mean your only a noob or so long. The inventory issue is easily remedied with a sever increase in the system minimum specs. The issue that FFXI is plagued with is that PS2 specs make it to where if they wanted to create a lot more room, they would have had to re-work the system something they did not want to do.

Bleh... No more gear swapping, thanks. Switching weapons around might be one thing, but swapping armor around several times a second in the middle of a fight is nothing short of unrealistic. I mean, I know it's a fantasy world, but, some things should still make sense tongue.gif

Thats my main concern, its been said that they have been modeling XIV off of more 'casual' MMOs and XI has been known to have a steep learning curve. The thing is, once you're over the hump in XI this game turns out to be a very rewarding challenge. It has its drawbacks of course and lately things have been way too easy, but I honestly do see them revamping the learning curve in XIV.

Hell, most of the new updates that they put into XI over the past few years could have been ideas that they've already implemented into XIV and wanted to give it a beta test on XI to see how well it runs. XIV's inventory system needs to be a complete re-haul of XI's, equipped gear should no longer take up any room, better sorting etc...

Its all speculation but once again I think we can look at what has been being updated and being tried with XI and even XIII and definitely see some of that in XIV.

1. Dark Knight.

2. Separate but equally viable weapon classes for each job. The closest approximation to FFXI I can make for this point would be Ranger, who could switch between Crossbows/Guns & Bows with little penalty, and perhaps Dark Knights switching off between Scythe, and Great Sword. However, expand upon this, and allow special skills that can be used in conjunction with a particular weapon class. Weapon skills aren't enough by themselves; allow us greater variety and specialization. Do away with constant armor switching in battle, but replace it with the ability to switch weapons mid-fight to best suit the situation. "Heavy" DDs can be limited to two active, interchangeable weapons in a battle--imagine a Warrior using a heavy hammer and crushing blows to bring foes to their knees, then switching to a great axe for the coup de grace--but classes using lighter weaponry can carry 3-4 different weapon types to increase their class's utility in compensation for dealing less damage.

Paladins could have a set of skills for both their sword and their shield, and switch from offensive skills to defensive ones on the fly. Ninjas could finally make use of their extensive historical armory on top of their ninjutsu, and finally have a reason to use shuriken. Samurai could use polearms in large-scale conflicts for brutal, armor-piercing damage at midrange but switch to their katanas to deal precise, fatal, extremely fast blows 1v1. Black Mages could use wands to focus for devastating surgical strikes at range, or magical staves for apocalyptic area-of-effect spells that drop large swaths of weaker enemies. Monks are fuckin' martial artists, give them a reason to use more than just their fists.

There are so many different weapon types for classes in FFXI, and little to no reason to use more than one for each class, barring situational circumstances. Give us a reason to use different weapons, or at the very least allow equal proficiency among a couple weapons for each class so that we all don't have to be clones min-maxing for the best Guillotine damage, which is also the only weapon skill that is deemed suitable for use.

3. Dark Knight.

Wholly Unrealistic Bonus Suggestion: Give great sword users the Zantetsuken skill.

1. More customized character (being able to change hair colors, mold and shape the texture and depths of the face and head and body, facial features as in mustache beard or sideburns, just making more fun for the person to look around and not see his twin seven thousand times, just make character creation more in depth).

2. Customized gear (changing the color to gear, like going to an npc and trading your piece of gear and some gil and he will come up with colors to choose from and u have to wait some time for him to change color).

3. Voice speaking from NPC's.

4. Families lol.... when you get married in game that you can buy to expand ur mog house into a bigger one to start a family. also when you get married u and your spouse share the same mog house. i just would like to c more done with the marriage system. not just a ring that says ur married with someone.

5. More linkshell stats. you should be able to set points and check points via linkshell on the menu. also be able to send messages to your linkshell leaders if they are not on. also a PvP linkshell battle royale... hell yea!!! linkshell vs linkshell. also a schedule board like shows the monthly calender so makes it easier to set up events and also keep track of TODs. theres more i can think of for linkshell stuff. just want more things to be more interactive with the linkshell.

6. Tournaments for prizes from time to time. person vs person have a giant tournament PvP. win special prizes that wont be avaliable for anyone else showing you are the best in the server.

7. create your own emo's (like you can go to a npc and will pop up with ur character and you can customize ur own little funny emo's that will actually do something then you just stand there).

8. I personally think the game is easier and easier to lvl to 75 these days. with all the rings and exp enhancements u can get to 75 in 2 or less weeks. but back in the old days it took you quiet a bit of time to get there. make is more prestige to get to that lvl.

9. Im sorry, but everyone is just trying to make a game easier and easier.... to me i like a challenge. having to wait out for a mob is all part of the challenge. i think what they did for AV for great. make mobs not impossible but extremely hard to beat. why make him easier then the whole fun of actually trying to beat him takes the fun away because u now know everyone can do it. whats that say to your linkshell? oh its been done before. making items easier to get? what? are yall serious? thats just ruins the purpose of everyone saying that they want to be different than everyone. if you can get a piece that no one has, makes you feel more successfull. but if you get it and u know someone else has it, yes makes you just like all of them. why? make is more hard to get things. make people work on improving their game instead of just making it easier because u think you cant do it.

10. more low lvl areas to lvl at? hmmm u have 3 places to low from 1-10 then well u go to the dunes like everyone else. make more places party friendly also. give people chances to lvl in areas that arent over populated with people.

11. better security.... well thats been the biggest issues to ffxi to this date. lets see how the new security system goes untill a hacker finds a way to steal again. or make some ways to get ur account back without losing it to hackers. when you put in your CC number put ur SS number also. this way when you call SE they can ask for your SS number and some other personal quiestions to get ur account back. i have lost 2 accounts and could not get them back. yes i was careless and should have been more secure about my id and pw but what happen, happened.

12. ik people are talking about doing more soloing. the whole point of SE's ways of trying to get u to party more is for u to interact more with people around the world, make friends.

13. also, a good one would be the translater. i believe no matter where your playing all the language to you should come out how u have it set. when a japanese player is talking to a english person it should translate from japanese to english so this way more interacting with people around the world comes in.

14. better graphics.... ik people are saying what the hell the graphics werent that bad. but to some. it seems really blocky. make the grass move more. make it seem more realistic to the eye.

i have more but will leave it up to yall to either reighm me or comment on my thoughts.

Crazy as it sounds i would like to see some form of national sport, like Blitzball was in FFX, with decent rewards

Maybe also an underwater fighting system? Like being able to swim around in water and encounter new mobs obviously not seen on land

Corsair o.o; And the ability to own my own pirate ship to pilage other players >.> or fight HNM on the ocean

I want visible cloaks!!!

I've always wished for a badass sexy black cloak for my DRK!

Also visible bows and xbows when equipped, chocobo armour etc

Also... I was just thinking whilst watching the trailer again... there seems to be a lot of action going on in the sky so aerial combat would be awesome too!

The ability to jump perhaps?

while i do not want to start out with multiple 75's i would like to have the ability to call dibs on the name i have now. and some kind of mementos from my time in vanadile. if there is a mog house system i would love to get some special furnature items like say my campaign medals in a wall hanging case or something.

i would love more customization options in character creation how ever i do not want these to come at the cost of server performance. i find that mmo's with a shed load of bells and wistles in this department to be a bit on the slower side when in large groups.

also.. i want my friking tail to make the jump to rapture as well >.<

I'd like to see a weapon/equipment system like the one they created in Vagrant Story: you get a grip of your choice, a blade of the material of your choice, a gem, combine everything and you get the weapon that fits you the best. In other words, a customizable augment system lol tongue.gif
Also, I agree with most of the stuff said above, with particular emphasis on:

1- More character customization: oh hell yes prz.
2- No more fucking 21-24 hours pop HNMs with shitty drop rate. Everything should have an assault-style advancement system where you can reach your goal slowly but steadily.

1. HNM's are instanced, I'm not sure how to do it without a bottleneck, make it where multiple people can do them at the same time in the instanced zones.. but be seperated, like salvage I think, the issue is how to set it up to be instanced, make it so people can only enter once every 24 hours, or game day, with a specific key item, bought from an npc or something, so were not bot-claiming mobs to get the pop item to enter.

2. Keep the same job system we have in FFXI, it works so well imo, and it's the reason I was so attracted to this game.

3. Instead of losing XP when you die, have it like they did in Guild Wars, you become more and more weakened after every death until you A. Have to go back to town, B. Disengage from battle and just wait, this way, I think people would be way more willing to try new stategies, and have a bit more risk involved, I mean.. everyone hates losing 2400 exp when you forget re-raise.

4. Moar races!

5. Ability to change how your armor looks(colour, skin).

6. Have most events like limbus, where you can have a good time, and get some very nice drops for only spending 2 1 hour sessions a week. I love dynamis, but it sucks spending so long doing it, and especially when you don't get decent drops from it. (Up the drop rates for everythinnnng!)

Most have been said, but I just wanted to voice my top desires.
